40 days ... 40 nights ...

and 40lbs:yes:! I'm in shock !

This is a bit surreal to me ... it's like I expected to lose weight quickly, but, of course, never knowing exactly how fast I would lose it, so I'm just overjoyed!

You all are the first to know! I share this victory with each and every one of you and am wishing continued success for all. We CAN and WILL do this!!

The longer I'm on this plan and commit to it 100%, the better I feel. I swear, this just keeps getting better everyday. And not just weight wise, but mentally. I thought that, perhaps, the longer I go on this, the more bored or disinterested I would become, or the harder it would get--but it has had the opposite effect with me. I NEVER in my life thought that I could be so detached from food. Being an emotional compulsive/addicted eater for over 15 years, I've wanted this change to happen, but didn't know if it ever would.

And believe it or not, guess what my favorite channel is on cable now--the Food Network channel!! I can actually enjoy watching meals being prepared--I especially like the Low-carb chef and The Calorie Comando chef--without a twinge of cravings or deprivation--only pure appreciation. I look at these shows for ideas about when I'm cooking again and how much I will enjoy preparing healthy foods and actually tasting my food, opposed to the old me who inhaled my food. But, I'm in no rush--I'm actually looking forward to completing my MF plan for as long as it takes for me to reach my goal :). I'm looking forward to growing mentally and emotionally stronger, too, as I continue to work on changing myself on the inside. I have finally learned to have respect and appreciation for food, and for my body and self :).

Anyways, just wanted to share with you all! Hang in and keep thriving everyone--we can ALL do this :stroll:! Thanks for the support :).

Sheryl,

Congrats! I am so happy for you - and I have to confess - just a tad bit jealous! Forty in forty is just absolutely incredible.

I too have found a renewed interest in cookbooks, recipes and the like. Planning for the future is so exciting now.

I have just hit the 16 week mark and will be posting (probably tomorrow b/c I didn't get my act together today) on both the pounds and inches I've lost. I'm right around the average loss from the John Hopkins study but the inches are really what has been most amazing.

In any event, keep up the great work!

That's GREAT!! Good for you for sticking to your guns!! I'm right behind you in days, not pounds, though. Day 36 here, and still strong, feeling good, like you said.

My fingernails have never been stronger!! Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys :)!

Sylvia, I'm a little jealous, too--I wish that I weighed 180lbs now--you only have little ways to go to reach your goal!! As for losing so quickly, of course I'm a big girl, so I'll lose faster. But I also, think the fact that I have been a regular exerciser, with consistent and challenging strength training for several years before Medifast, may be a factor in my losing very fast. I have some nice muscle buried beneath my fat!--although my guess is that I've lost about 25-30% muscle strength/size this year since I haven't been as consistent with my workouts for a few months now.

DC, you are doing so well, too--sticking your guns! I just noticed that my nails were stronger and longer, too! My nails are usually brittle and peeling, but now that I look at them they are much stronger than before.

You all keep it up, too :)!

Right, Simmshe. This is the first time in AGES that all of mine have been a good length at the same time. I have actually been using nail polish, and I'm not much of a pampered pooch most of the time. Kinda fun, actually. Thanks for validating my observation.

I agree! I've recently NOTICED that it's no special feat to lose the first 10 pounds -- nor even the first 20, as that can be done in a matter of a couple of weeks or a month. But to keep on going is what separates the men from the boys in this group -- to face each and every one of those stinkin' pounds and tirelessly wait for them to let loose. The pace is, or can be, good, but it's still much more like a regular diet when the weight no longer just falls off. I'm being tested by that these days, thinking I "SHOULD" be losing fast, fast, fast just because I'm having only the shakes. Well, it isn't happening that way, and I have to want it badly enough to be tough, too. This is going to take time. :x
