My day 3

Postby mtomto » March 7th, 2006, 10:04 pm

Now coming to and end, thankfully. I am handling the 5 shakes quite well, but start thinking about L & G in the afternoon. I did havea couple licorice deals that were at the office but otherwise have remained on track. Thank God for chicken boullion..heading for second of the day to ease the pangs then off to bed. Havent weighed or anything, just waiting a few days to look at that. Generally i feel good about this. Will check in again soon. Best to all.

I am on my third day as well. I am happy to say that the massive headache I had yesterday is gone. The only side effect I feel now is a little weakness, but that is to be expected at this point.

I have been trying a new product with every Medifast meal, and I would say that I am about 50/50 so far. Out of the three shakes that I've tried (Vanilla, Chocolate, Orange), the Chocolate is the only one I've liked. As for the other products, I enjoyed the peach oatmeal, but found the vanilla berry to be a little bland. I can't stand any of the soup. The bars are, of course, great!

The hunger isn't really an issue at this point.

Hang on to those procucts

Postby Jan » March 8th, 2006, 10:04 am

Hmmmm,
Don't like the soups huh??? Well hang on to them. I was the same way. I thought they had been concocted by a chef with an evil sense of humor  But -- here's the good news. Our tastes change and when you try them again they may just taste great. Hang on to them awhile til you know for sure. They became some of my favorites.

I may enjoy the chicken noodle soup in the future. It wasn't that bad. The cream of chicken soup was the most horrible thing I've ever eaten. I had to gag at least 3-4 times to get the entire bowl down.

The other soups have things in them that I don't like, so I probably wont even bother with them.

It just gets easier... trust me. I absolutely HATED the oatmeal. It gave me the shivers and the first one I had a hard time finishing it, same with the vanilla shake. Now almost 2 weeks in I like them. LOL! You're both doing a fantastic job. Keep it up.

Yeah, I really hope that the Vanilla shakes start to taste better, because they sent me 3-4 boxes of it.

I've always been a big fan of chicken soup, so I think I am comparing it a bit too much to the stuff I have enjoyed. The cream of chicken just looks and tastes nasty to me though.

You might try experimenting with spices, too. I thought the cream of broccoli was the LAST thing I'd ever eat, but now it's one of my favorites (of course, you'd hardly recognize it when I'm done adding dried roasted garlic, a dash of worcestershire and some salsa and hot sauce). The oatmeal is much better with extra Splenda and cinnamon (or apple pie spice) and sometimes even some DaVinci syrup. Not bland at all - in fact, people at work keep asking who brought in cinnamon buns.

To me, the vanilla shakes seem really sweet. I find that when I add some flavor to them, they are not so bad. I tend to add extra ice, so it is more like a thick shake. Sounds kinda silly, but adding chocolate or strawberry or whatever flavor to the vanilla tastes good and different from shakes of those flavors.

Last one I had that was vanilla, I added some root beer syrup. Kinda was like a root beer float cause I had so much ice in there to thicken it up.

Also, you might want to try freezing the shakes and eating them with a spoon. It might let the flavors meld a little more and make the taste stronger.

Then again, I don't know what you disliked about the vanilla taste or strawberry taste, so none of these ideas could work !! Oh, well..maybe one or two might be useful to you. Good luck :pour:
