Day One

Postby jene115 » April 3rd, 2006, 5:46 pm

Yes, I did start today, can I get an OH YEAH!! :kool: I was remarkably at peace this morning, like I've been doing this all along. It's amazing that when you make a decision, and you are ready, it's so much easier. Yes, I was hungry today, but I've been working all day during the work week without eating, then eating fast food at night, so my body is used to feeling hunger. I'm drinking my 5th supplement now and I will have one before bed. I told one woman at work what I was doing and she was so excited for me and hugged me. Who knew? I guess people can be supportive sometimes.

I set my first goal - it's to just get into my black jeans, size 26, how sad it that? I vowed never to buy anything larger, so if I can get those on, I will be happy, they may be 24s though, hmm :aarggh: Either way, it's not pretty.

I have SO many clothes in my "waiting for me" closet I can't wait to get into. Most I will be able to get into rather quickly and others are "goal" clothes, but I find that so much fun to look at what I will be able to wear soon.

I feel really good, but I am under no delusions that this is going to be easy breaking a very serious (and deadly) fast food habit. This is the first work day I can remember in a year or more where I didn't stop at one of the many, many fast food restaurants in Houston to get dinner. They will probably go out of business now. :roflmao: :roflmao:

Looks like Day 1 has been won and I can say it's a success. I am looking foward to my first weigh in on Sunday, even if it will only be 6 days, but who cares?

Question - I've been on low carb diets before and when in ketosis, there's a fruity taste in my mouth. I had that feeling today, although I know there's no way I'm in ketosis right now. Has anyone else experienced that? Maybe it's just because I'm not drinking Coke and only drank water today. Whiich by the way, I've had 4 pints today, plus another 8 oz. So, over 64 oz. for someone who drank Coke after Coke, after Coke. My cubicle mate at work said I would probably lose a ton of weight just cutting out fast food and Cokes.

Sorry it's so long, but I have NEVER had a success like this since I've been a member here and I'm very happy I can report GOOD news for a change.

Congratulations Jene!!! I'm so glad you found someone supportive at work & that you're feeling so at peace with Medifast - sometimes it really is all about timing and being ready for change.

Jen--I am so happy to hear that day one went so well! I am so very proud of you and each day it will get easier and easier I promise.

I have never had a fruity taste in my mouth but I do have a metal taste in my mouth constantly but that is indicative of ketosis so be blessed with the fruity taste cause very soon it may be metal mouth for you too!

Hi

Postby dede4wd » April 4th, 2006, 6:15 pm

I LOVE your attitude! Those size 26's are gonna be falling off you in NO TIME FLAT with your attitude. You're gonna kick this problem in the A@^! I'm so happy for you!

As for the taste, mine's metalic and it didn't come until day 4. I don't know about the sweet. I'm also weaning off Diet Coke....

I'm so happy your first day went well!

Thanks for all the replies and support! I am doing well. I got a call from my doctor today and my cholesterol is up (DUH). It always has been since I've been fat. My blood sugar is a little elevated 109 and it should be 100 or under. My triglycerides were through the roof 180 and it should be 150 or below, but last time I was tested they were 106! and my potassium wa a little bit low. She talked about putting me on cholesterol lowering agents and I said no. Give the diet three months and I guarantee you everyting will be much better. She wants to see me in one month to see if there's improvement. So okay, I can do that. I am not going on more medications when my goal is to get off. Especially since my HDL is a big part of the number. It's too high and HDL can be lowered by exercise. The blood sugar did bother me a little because I have had a gut feeling I was headed toward being pre-diabetic. These will all improve since I have stopped fast food and Cokes.

I'm really tired, so I will bid adieu and "talk" to you all tomorrow!
