Day 4 and a question

Postby Nelliebly » November 15th, 2005, 6:56 am

Wahoooo!!! I've gotten past the hurdle! I only got a headache Saturday. No other cravings in sight either. So I am starting day 4 and life is good. I am drinking water like I should. Hopefully the scale will show something good this weekend. I hope too that my blood sugars come down-for some reason, it's up now in the morning. Hmmm, have to play around and figure out if I need to push up my dinner. No cheating either with that. I've been having chicken and lean meat at dinner with a side of string beans with mushrooms.

Here's a question. Can I marinate the veggies in vinegar with spices to add some zing?

Dear Nelliebly ~

Welcome to you and thank you for your great report. I hope that this finds your blood sugars behaving better. It is important to frequently monitor your glucose throughout the day, especially during the first month or so. Many people with diabetes do so 5-7 times a day. Check with your doctor or diabetic specialist regarding the adjustments needed for your oral agents. Most likely, you will soon be off of them. That's a good thing, eh?

Yes, you may use vinegar and spices to marinate your vegetables and meat. If you're like many of us, you will soon realize the great flavor of vegetables. For the first time in years, I enjoy salad without smothering it in layers of greasy oily dressing and veggies are good without butter and bacon grease.

You are doing a good job to research and to be prepared for your meals. Happy to have you along with us on the journey to optimal health.
