Cream of Tomato soup

Postby onehotmommy » February 8th, 2006, 12:25 pm

Ok, I am in love with the cream of tomato soup now. I got 2 packets to try and I am going to have to order more SOON! I prepared it on the stove and kicked it up with some Mrs Dash tomato, basil, and garlic as Nancy suggested. I also added a few dashes of ground red pepper. I tasted it and I was not terribly impressed, so I added a bit of salt.....still didn't impress me alot. So, I remembered that Nancy told me that someone puts Splenda in theirs and she loves it. Well, I thought, "what the heck", so I put in a pack of splenda (or maybe 2, can't remember!) and OMG, it is GREAT! I am a big fan of Campbell's tomato soup cooked with milk and this was exactly the same, no joke, EXACTLY! The Splenda really did the trick with toning down the acidity of the tomato flavor....it made it sooooo yummy! I always put a tablespoon of sugar or honey in my spaghetti sauce to balance acidity, so I am used to it sweet and this was a very good substitute for that particular meal. I had my last pack of crackers with my soup last night and it was very satisfying. No crackers today :( It was still good though! I wish I had more, I would eat it 2 or 3 more times today if I had it!!!!!!

I'm so glad you said that. I've been thinking of trying the tomato soup, but I absolutely HATE Campbell's tomato soup. I'll stick with my broccoli. And wait for that new vegetable beef soup they're supposed to be coming out with.

Yeah, if you don't like Campbell's, you won't like the Medifast tomato soup. The only tomato soup I like is a Greek recipe I use, that has no sugar in it at all; Campbell's has always tasted too sweet. But that's one of the great things about Medifast, enough variety that there's something for everyone!

Cream of tomato is my absolute favorite - with a sprinkle of ground red pepper and salt! I also think it is better if you let it sit awhile after mixing. Try adding crushed MF crackers - YUM!

Hey, thanks for the idea. I have a sample cream of tomato and I am going to try the Mrs. Dash and splenda.

Can't wait to try it. If I like it will buy a box or 2. :)
