Hi,

This is embarrassing but can anyone recommend something for constipation? Is this normal on this program?

Hi--

I can't speak for everyone else BUT I have been since the 1st week.. I take a stool softner every night and take a laxative a couple times a week. I read somewhere that since we are not taking in much food we don't have to go but a couple of times weekly.. My husband is just the opposite.. he got the other end(runs) I thought it would straigthen out but it didn't.. I think its because of all the protein..Whenever i overtook in proteins on other plans it caused the same reaction..Hope it helps..Martha

Constipation

Postby Jan » July 24th, 2005, 7:16 pm

Hi Pratal,
This is a problem once in a while on the program. It's most likely because you are eating less food. Try to increase your fluid intake. Lots and lots of water helps. Other than that Metamucil 1-2tsp disolved in water once a day should take care of it. Some people have just the opposite problem so I guess it just depends upon your individual system. These things go away eventually. :D

Hi, Prata ~

 Yup, it CAN be a problem. My blue eyes were brown for a while...

Jan, you are so right: :water: then have some more :water: and don't forget to drink a lot of :water:

Metamucil is helpful.

Colace stool softeners may become your  best friend...

:secret: Broccoli, a daily serving of Medifast Oatmeal and a package of the Multigrain crackers sometimes does the trick.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the advice. I know I am drinking plenty of water at least a gallon a day or more that is all I drink. I don't like soda or cystal light much so water it is. I will try the broccoli and other suggestions. Thanks a bunch. I am now done day 3 and feel wonderful!! Thanks for the help

I put a little benefiber in two of my shakes each day, just to keep away from such problems. So far, so good.

It's sometimes a lack of magnesium, actually. You can try some magnesium supplements or eat some spinach (the spinach usually works wonders for me). Or an extra vitamin C supplement can do it, too.

ROBIN---

Thanks for the info.. I had spinach today.. I sure hope it works as Laxatives are not doing the trick anymore.. Am going to increase the green stuff and use the magnesium supplement to see if it helps.. Martha
