Considering Medifast But Scared

Postby VictoriousNat » August 21st, 2006, 9:59 am

Hi Everyone!

What an amazing group of folks you are!!!! I have been reading your posts ALL weekend between cooking and errands and baseball (watching LOL). I am so encouraged right now as I type this. I am at a serious crossroads in my life and feel that this plan would be a right fit for me at this point in my life. I have 100 pounds to lose. I know quite a feat. I am not a yo yo dieter - the most I have ever lost in my life was about 30 lbs and I gave up because I was not getting any compliments (my brother told me I looked the same). Sad reason for giving up. Shame on me!

Anyway, my main question concerns loose skin (I am 41 not 20), thinning hair (already experienced that from being anemic - very depressing and esteem draining - don't want to experience that again) and having a baby after Medifast. Yes, even at my age - I want to try for a child next year...I married "late" yadda yadda yadda.

Can anyone let me know what your experiences were in these areas? Anything you can share, even anecdotally would be great!

Thank you so much!!!

(PS I am in NY area and would like a buddy if anyone in the area wants to adopt me. :) )

WELCOME!!! I don't know the answers to any of your questions, but I can tell you that from my own experience, I feel much better on MF. I felt crappy for the first three days, and if I drink too much water (100oz+), and don't have enough salt, I get headaches. It is usually a quick cure of chicken broth, or if I haven't eaten my L&G yet, some extra salt on there.

As for the baby, I am not sure, but I know that I plan to have one in the next 2-5 years. In the guide, it says that MF is not reccommended for pregnant women, and to seek advice from a doctor.

If you do it now, and lose the weight, you will have so much fun running around with the beby. That is one of the reasons that I am doing it, but it is mostly for myself.

MF is a wonderful program, and after the first 3 days, pretty easy to stick to. I hope you decide to join us losers on here.

Welcome to the best support site ever and not just in Medifast :)

100 pounds is a lot of weight to loose but not a feat on this plan. This eating plan is easy, quick and very safe! You will be so happy that you are following this plan and you will surprise yourself :)

I have quite other diets before because it didn't seem to show for others to notice and that made me  However we all have our reasons and the only thing that matters is what we find that works for us!

I cannot totally answer your question about loose skin, however, I have seen many people on this plan and they have lost quite a bit of weight! I never noticed a huge amount of loose skin. You are going to always have some :( However, they noticed the weight loose not the skin :):) You'll be very surprise how MF will also make your skin appear like you are glowing...I get that one a lot :)

Having a baby after MF is cool. Now when you are pregnant or nursing, you should take a break from it. Not saying you can't have it as a snack, but you don't want to replace any meals while pregnant. You will be happy that you lost the weight before a baby. It will also help you when it comes to carring the baby and delivery...being in shape and a normal weight for your frame only helps you in the long run.

I hope you find that MF is for you and wish you the best on your decision. We are all here to support you and help in anyway that we can!

with just 100 # to lose, loose skin will probably not be THAT big of a deal. Use a good lotion (with shea) daily. It really depends on how and where you carry your weight, but 100, isn't too bad in most cases.

 I don't have any answers for the questions you asked, but I did want to give you a HUGE WELCOME!!

I'm been on plan for 3 weeks now & I truly LOVE it! I was very skeptical before I started, & honestly a good part of my 1st few days as well...but MF totally won me over. :D

Welcome Nat!

Sorry, I have no experience in any of the areas in which you expressed concern, but I would like to welcome and congratulate you on the great decision you have made in beginning the MF diet and, especially, in joining this forum. The people here have made my weight loss journey more informed and successful than I believe it would have been otherwise. They have definitely made it more entertaining!! That's for sure!

Can't wait 'til your order gets here and you can start posting about all your great successes!

Hasta!

You will LOVE it! You'll love the results and you'll love the way you feel. I've been on Medifast for a year now - I lose a little slower than most people but that is probably due to medication issues. Still, this is BY FAR the EASIEST, MOST EFFECTIVE program out there!

By the way, I had my last child 2 weeks after my 40th birthday (I'm now 45) and not only was he my easiest pregnancy and delivery, but he keeps me YOUNG !

I don't worry about loose skin - my worst feature are my underarms but the more I read about surgery in that area, the more it does NOT sound worth it to me. You really trade one problem for another - the SCAR. I'll live with my batwings and wear longer sleeves!

Have fun!

Considering Medifast

Postby VictoriousNat » August 22nd, 2006, 3:55 pm

Thanks, again, for the warm welcome. I got an email confirming my order!!! I really hope it gets here by Friday. I would love to start on Monday even though maybe starting on September 1st makes more sense. I just really want to get started. I am rehabbing my old house, so I have much to keep me busy when I come home from work, so my mind won't be on food during the 1st 3 days. I am soooo excited!!!

Going to clean out the pantry tonight and make room for the two MF shelves - my DH can have the remaining shelves. :)

Hi there Nat!!
Don't worry -- you can do it. Look in the studio -- I know of several who have parted with 100 pounds or more!!
Now as to the baby. Remeber that parting with the pounds will generally increase fertility. Estrogen is stored in those fat cells so you'll be releasing more into your system and that results in a increase in fertility. I always warn my clients. My pastor's wife just found out she was pregnant. That's a goooood thing they have been trying for several years ... Yea MF. :D :D
