Hi,
I am a bit confused about the "complete" plan and the lean and green 5 and 1 plan. I need to lose the first chunk of weight fast- its a psychological thing- once Im started I can do fine, but I need a kick start. So I decided to do the complete fast. I started the first week just on shakes but to be honest, by the 3rd one, I was nauseous and just didnt want the last two- I know how important they are so I choked them down. Then my friend told me I could have a bar and a soup instead of two of the shakes. Is this still going to keep me in my mild ketosis and let me lose the weight quickly? I changed to a shake for breakfast, one for am snack, a bar for lunch a shake for pm snack and a soup for dinner. Can I still expect to lose a bunch of weight in a short amount of time? I also have 54 oz of water (that the size of my thermos) and 2 diet sodas plus 2 cups of bullion. When its time to add the "lean and green" portion, can I just replace the dinner soup with the protien and veggies? How much can I expect to lose (avg of course) after I switch? I was going to do the full fast (as I described it above) for 4-6 weeks ( which is 2-4 more weeks) Ive already lost about 8 lbs.
Thanks!
Nancy

Hi Nancy and welcome!

If you read around a bit, you'll see that I was recently "chastised" for substituting a meal bar for 2 shakes. Big NO-NO! They call it a "meal" bar for a reason. It's a "meal" replacement, not "meals" replacement bar.

If you need to get a good kick-start to provide motivation, then go "full fast" shakes only for a week or two. My first week on "full fast" I lost almost 19 pounds, but then I'm a man and I was nearly 500 pounds at the time too! I'm at the end of week 10, still on full-fast and have averaged nearly 1 pound a day lost. That, dear friend, is motivation!

I'm not really the one to answer your questions with authority, but wanted to give my 2cents worth! I'll leave a more appropriate response to the experts!

Hi!

Here's a penny for my thoughts - I'm no expert either. It would help if you gave your stats - how tall, age bracket, how much you weigh now. Everyone loses at a different rate, but like Gerald said, if you read around the posts here, you'll learn a lot as we all share our loss stats. Try getting some DaVinci Sugarless Gourmet Syrups or SugarFree Crystal Light to flavor your shakes - use a blender with ice too - that helps. Read the Lean Cuisine section to improve the taste of the shakes. Hope you can stick to it. Getting off the weight quick was exactly the reason I chose Medifast, and boy does it work if you follow it!

Hang in there!

My stats are Im 5 feet nothing tall. I have no idea how much I weighed when I started medifast 2 weeks ago but one week ago I was 160. Im guessing I was somewhere around 165-170 when I first started. Im now about 155. I would like to be at about 140 before I go on the lean and green and my final goal is around 115.
Im not putting a time limit on myself but I am going on vacation the first week of December and Id really like to be close to goal by then.

Nancy,

8 pounds in 14 days is just about my rate of loss the first month. Gee, when I said stats, didn't mean you had to tell us your age - I just said age bracket. I know some women are sensitive about their age. I'm only 4 but then again, I use a unique calculation as explained in the thread re Mike's Birthday. ;)

I used only shakes the first month and lost 20 pounds or so. Well, you can read my stats. From the second month on, I've still done the complete plan but used other supplements besides the shakes. Someone else will have to share their experience with the 5 and 1 since I haven't tried it.

Great progress!
