Cocoa add-in question

Postby jump4joy » April 19th, 2006, 11:48 am

Hiya!

I've never stopped drinking MF Cocoa since I discovered it six or seven years ago. I've really LOVED the seasonal Cocoa with marshmellows and now am all out. So my question is: Would the freeze-dried mini marshmellows in the big cans of cocoa w/marshmellows be an acceptable substitute? Not sure if they are even the same kind as MF uses in manufacturing. Not a big deal if you say no....I was just curious. I'm a firm believer in the Medifast program...so I don't want to add in anything I shouldn't.

Thanks,

I never had the seasonal cocoa, but I too LOVE the cocoa. I have it once a day as a mocha and as a nighty nigh snack before bed.
Anyway, I'd ask the nutrtion expert about the marshmallows in the instant cocoa. They seem really grainy and sugary to me. Personally I'd skip it.....and stock up in the fall!!

I doubt this would be an acceptable practice but I use Davinci SF Toasted Marshmallow Syrup in my cocoa.

I'm sure you're both right...I think I knew the answer already before I posted the question. :)

I always have a Cocoa to start and end my day. I love to put 10 drops of peppermint in it and I whip it up right in my mug with my trusty Vitaminder (a mini-whipper that I buy in bulk because they give out in three months. They're cheap and leave it lumpless with a nice froth on top).

I use the sugar-free syrup as well, or lately I've been trying the marshmallow Flavor Spray. The "marshmallows" in the Medifast cocoa were definitely not real marshmallows.

So true. Sometimes I think the marshmellows just triggered my desire for sweets. Jan told me she likes the DaVinci toasted marshmellow syrup in hers. Is that the kind you have? I'd really like to try it. Sounds good!

Yep, that's the one. Try that one, and for something else really good, try the cocoa with the DaVinci Hazelnut or Toasted Hazelnut. Very decadent tasting, and when I make it at work, EVERYone wants to know where I got it.

I like the blueberry in the vanilla berry oatmeal, and I LOVE the caramel in the apple-cinnamon oatmeal. And the almond or raspberry is nice in the chocolate pudding. Or the cocoa.

The ones I use almost daily, though, are the marshmallow, toasted hazelnut, caramel and blueberry.

You all are making my mouth water with talk of those scrumptious flavors! And Joy--I have to tell you-- you must have a different kind of mint than I have. A couple of years ago I put about half a drop of mint extract into the blender with ice & a chocolate 55 shake. It was REALLY frosty. I had it all fancy in my goblet glass & went out on the deck to enjoy it in the summer sun, with a pretty green straw of course. And AHHHHH!! I just about burned my esophagus out with the icy cold mint. Now I AM a chocolate AND mint lover mind you... but whatever I used was not in the right proportions-hah! So... Be careful!

Drain Cleaner

Postby Jan » April 19th, 2006, 10:03 pm

Ohhhhh peppermint
All of you who have been around here for awhile will remember my "discovery" from awhile back. I made "drain cleaner" out of a dutch chocolate shake and peppermint. Even old iron stomach -- that's my hubby couldn't drink it!!! :? But boy oh boy did our garbage disposal ever smelllll great for a day or so.

Oh yes, I made that same mistake years ago! Thanks for sharing your stories Becky and Jan...funny! I use a very small amount of McCormick Pure Peppermint Extract. I use 8-10 drops (even 11 is too minty, canyabelieve?). Ten drops fill my smallest measuring spoon--1/8 tsp.--only about halfway. So about 1/16 tsp. is ALL it takes. Ooooooh, I loves my chocolate and mint together.

Hey Joy,

If you like that combination, have you tried the chocomint bars? They taste just like girl scout thin mints ....but chewy, too!

I tried them several years ago, Jo, but I didn't like them too well. :( They were a little hard and very DRY. I kept trying though, and ordered them periodically, since I love chocolate and mint together, the taste was good, but the texture was too hard for my taste. I really like the Oatmeal Raisin, Fruit Granola MF bar, Caramel choc., which are my favs. I've ordered samples of all the flavors, and I like these few the best.
Thanks for your interest though!
