20# Club, please!

Postby Lauren » December 1st, 2005, 7:21 am

Morning, Unca and gang-

Please put me in the 20# club! Actually, as of this morning, the end of my 3rd week, I hit 21.5 pounds! This almost seems insane. :-) Does anyone ever feel like the scale is lying to them? I am totally not kidding! I keep wanting to make sure it calibrates to 0 pounds in between, because, while I certainly can see some differences, to have lost 21.5 pounds so fast doesn't seem real!

It's sort of a sad (and telling) day when you can lose over 20 pounds and it is only noticeable to a few people. That just reaffirms how necessary it is to lose the weight. Plus, I really put on those 20 pounds in the last 7 months, when I quit smoking, so perhaps that's why they came off so quickly.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's continued enthusiasm and honesty on here, I keep it open all day at the office on my desktop just as a constant reminder. To see the screen and see the hundreds of people succeeding - I don't know, it's like having "big brother" in my office. I am not even corresponding on it most of the time, it's just open like a fly on the wall!

Crazy, right?

Ciao!

Lauren-

Way to go! Yes, I always think the scale is lying -- I bought a second one for back up and still ping pong between the two and pull out the calculator because I am always sure I didn't subtract right in my head.

You are doing awesome. You are not crazy cause if you are, I am too! I didn't notive a thing until I hit like 40 lbs but the closest of my close family/friends and co-workers claimed to have seen a difference. Support is key.

Keep up the awesome job!

Thanks, Gwenski and Lauradr!

Not seeing dramatic physical changes when I seem to be losing the weight at dramatic speed is where there seems to be a mental disconnect.

But I realize that 20 pounds is like a tiny percentage of my overall goal weightloss, and I can't expect to look drastically different right away!

Thanks so much for both of your support, you are both kicking ass at MF! Keep on keepin' on!

Lauren -

Amen to the mental disconnect! Seriously, my disconnect allowed me to fool myself into not seeing how huge and unhappy I was. Hey, I knew I was skinny and active on the inside but the outside was another story.

It took my three months to get my head around having actually lost weight and to see it. Seriously, I hardly believed anyone.

Well, buying XL or XXL clothes in the Womans side of Old Navy and fitting into XL PJs from Costco finally hit me. It just takes a while to get the cruddy wacky filters down. After all, we constructed them to protect us from not really grasping what we had done to ourselves with all the pounds and poor food choices.

This whole not relying on food stuff is tough but totally worth it as we get lighter and lighter and happier and into smaller clothes -- it is happening give it time.
