20 lb club please

Postby krissss » February 13th, 2008, 8:30 am

Gezzzzzzz I finally hit the 20lbs club.It took me 6 full weeks.

I know thats great ...but I am hoping to speed things up a just a little.Get back on track of losing 3.5 a week like I was at first.

I have been super stressed out :nana: with dealing with my 10 year old.I can't seem to do anything right in his eyes. At least my 8 year old has been on her best behavior lately.Thank goodness.

So my question is CAN STRESS PLAY A ROLE IN LOSING SLOWER??

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 20 pounds GONE WOOO HOOO

Maybe I should start shakin in my boots... you are just likely to catch up with me and win that pot o' gold in our contest.

As for stress - YES it most certainly can and will hinder weight loss. Being stressed involves more than just your mind, other body functions are affected also and they use energy. If your body feels like it needs energy to control the stress it will hold on to its stores. Try to find healthy ways to relieve the stress; yoga, hot bubble baths, punching a pillow etc. You will be using the energy, but releasing the tension.

I recently had a talk with my 16 (going on 30) year old about how sometimes her actions and word really affect my well-being. I know your son is younger, but maybe a good heart to heart will get to the bottom of his issues. If it doesn't you can at least rest in the knowledge that you tried to help him with whatever he is dealing with - you know that it isn't you right????

ANYWAY --- I am happy to see you join the 20 pound club, but this doesn't mean you are gonna win. :-P

Congrats on the loss! And yes, of course stress can slow things down. As can lack of sleep.

Hang in there. Your younger child is a girl? From what my friends and relatives who are moms of teen girls say (and my own experience as a former teen), it's only gonna get worse!!!

I have never raised a boy so I can't offer much input there, but I can say from experience as a daughter and as a mom that the most important thing in a mother-daughter relationship is communication. I never felt comfortable talking to my mom about much of anything and I vowed that I would not have that kind of relationship with my daughter. I have worked VERY hard to make sure she knew she could come to me about anything. We even enjoy what we refer to as "Watching Wranglers" (translation - cowboy butts) together. Keeping those lines open without any threat of judgement is so important.

I'm SO excited for you! Welcome to the 20# club! I also miss my 3.5-4lb a week weeks, but I'm sure happy the scale is going down!

As for the stress, I think it's DEFINITELY affecting me as well...I've decided to stay off the scale for a while (plus I can't, no scale on the road!), because I KNOW I'm making the right choices and doing things well and I don't need the scale not moving fast enough to add to my stress!

Take some YOU time, know that this is a phase and something tells me you're a GREAT Mum and this too shall pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
