Chocolate mint bars...... yuck!!!

Postby Raetish3 » January 7th, 2006, 8:03 am

I ordered a box of " Chocolate Coated Mint Madness " bars and they are awful!!! I was eating the last of my daily supplements last night and I could not finish it!!! I ate 3/4 (choked down) of a bar and had to throw the last 1/4 out ... Any suggestions???

I am on day three and so far so good and I am loving this diet!!! It's alot easier then I thought! No counting points, no major weiging and measuring..(except for my lean & green) and It just feels good!!
So far I feel as though this is a diet I can manage!!!! last night my lean & green was 7 oz of Center cut pork chops with ALL the fat trimmed off & 1 1/2 cups of cooked brussell sprouts.. My husband and I got to eat the same meal and I was not jealous of what he was eating!!! I feel great today and I am dying to weigh my self but I won't... I'll wait until thursday or friday!!! :) any suggestions on the bars??? Rae

Raetish3,

Try setting the bars aside for a week and try them again. Your tastes buds change when the sugar is gone from your system. I hated the oatmeal at first, but now it's one of my favorites. If they still don't do it for you, you can try trading them....see the swap N shop area.

I noticed you said you had 7 oz. of pork. The Quick Start Guide says you should have 7 oz of chicken or fish and 5 oz of lean beef or pork.

Good luck :D

It really is amazing how different people's taste buds react to different things. I LOVE the chocolate mint bars ... they are the highlight of my day! And I too hated the oatmeal, I immediately traded mine. I thought it was so bad I had other people in my office try it to make sure it wasn't defective. They said it tasted fine to them. Bottom line, I agree with Serendipity, try it again in a week or so when the sugar is out of your system and then trade if all else fails.

Find somebody to trade -- except it does cost a lot to mail a box of bars. I love the chocolate mint -- wish we were closer!

P.S. Where in Western New York? I grew up in Rochester.

My tastes have definitely changed since starting. I like the chocolate mint, lemon and oatmeal, but HATE the chocolate divine and chocolate peanut butter. When I started, the only bars I could tolerate were the smores and the fruit-nut bars. And I still can't stand the shakes, except for the chocolate RTDs.

I'd hang onto 'em awhile and see if you like them later on. And if not, you can give 'em to the friend who sees your progress and decides to try the program for herself!

What? :shades:

Are you kidding? DogMa, I LOVE the Choc Divine - they are divine with a cup of Starbuck's.

Your buds may change - try the Choc Mints frozen - cut it up into smaller pieces and freeze. Then try the frozen bite-lets.

It is true, our tastes do change after a while. Except I STILL think Swiss Mocha is :puke:

Ha! I LOVE the chocolate mint, aside from the texture, I think they taste like Girl Scout Thin Mints! But I am jumping on the group bandwagon to say that your tastes will DEFINITELY change, and you may love these in a week. I remember trying the peanut butter bar my first few days, and thought it was vile. I actually thought most of the drinks and foods were gross, and wondered how on earth I was going to do this diet. And then, as each day went on, things started tasting better and I actually started to crave MF items.

I literally crave the Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal. Love it. Wish I could eat multiple bowls of it at a time! :-)

So, just ride it out, you will see!

At times we have noticed that some bars have some little balls or globs of something that tastes a little like a Sweet Tart or a Tart 'n Tiny - at least that is the best way I know how to describe it. I've noticed it in the Choc Divine and the Choc Mint, too. The PB tastes more like a Bit O'Honey to me than PB - it is not a Reese's PB Cup by any means! I like the chewy texture and yes, sometimes they ARE dry and sometimes the Choc Divine tastes kinda dry, too.

:puter: Gentle Readers please remember I am not the chef, I don’t mix ‘em up or package ‘em, I just eat the stuff, stay healthy and hotsy totsy and THAT makes me very happy!

Still...they are good in their own way, they have their place for those who like their convenience and after a month or so of going without a giant-size Snicker's bar and a pounder bag of m&ms, I think they rock!
