Chicken noodle soup

Postby Suzie2006 » January 22nd, 2006, 8:02 am

Anyone who LOVES the chicken noodle soup...how do you prepare it?

I made it once in the microwave according to the directions on the box and I really didn't like it at all.

Is it better done on the stove? Maybe cooked longer? It kept overflowing in the microwave so maybe it didn't get cooked long enough. Maybe not enough water....it was very bright yellow.

Suzie

I absolutely love the chicken noodle soup

Here is how I prepare it

about and hour before it is meal time i put it in a tupperware bowl with 2cups of water and 1 chicken boullion cube cover it and put it in the fridge (this allows the noodles and veggies to soften) I then heat it slowly on the stove till it is hot and enjoy. Tastes just like real chicken noodle soup

Thanks Lisa. I'll give it a try today. Do you bring it to a boil or just slow simmer?

Thank you, thank you Lisa. I had it for lunch and is was really good and with 2 cups of water it is pretty filling. I couldn't finish it all.

It was tons better than the pouch and 1 cup of water on its own. I also added a bit of chopped up onion.

I'm so happy. I was really discouraged after having it the first time and not liking it. I really like soup and I was thinking that maybe I would just have a shake at lunch (and one at breakfast). But now I just love the soup! Woo hoo!

I love the chicken noodle soup too!

Another good way if you like spicy food!!!
I bought the spicy chicken bouillon Nancy had mentioned and added that with a little extra water along with a couple teaspoons of fresh salsa.
OMG!! It was heaven! I love spicy food and this hit the spot!!

Thanks for the tip about the "Mexican Food" aisle in the store!!

If you don't want to use the stove and just want to microwave it, try preparing it ahead and leaving it in the fridge to soak overnight or longer. I do that with the chicken noodle, the chicken rice and the chili (I don't like the minestrone much). I plan to do it when the new beef and vegetable comes out, too.
