and I'm not just talking about clothes!!!
This past week I've been feeling a little "venturesome"... i.e. curious to try some of the old stuff I used to really enjoy. I know it was a stupid thing to do...but I think I was suffering from a backlash after losing 100 pounds...(Scary territory, ya know?)
So while having my grilled salmon at Famous Dave's I decided to just break off a little piece of the corn "muffin top" (Ironic ain't it..) and have a taste. I used to absolutely scarf these things down back in the day so part of me was set to really enjoy this little "cheat".
So I popped that yellow morsel in my mouth, ready to savor all it's sweet, corny goodness and................................... <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_14_202.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_14_202/image.gif"> almost spit it out because it tasted AWFUL!!! Not at all what I remembered. All I could taste was the "fat"! It was like chewing on a gritty teaspoon of lard!!!
I can only compare the sensation it to how it feels when you've been drinking non-fat milk for a long time and then one day try some whole milk... The whole milk just tastes too fat and creamy.
Emboldened, I tried out a couple more of my faves over the course of this past week with the same results. (By the way, I am totally NOT recommending this as something to try...again, it really was pretty stupid on my part, but all part of the learning experience for me.)
OMG!! I'm cured?!?!? (Not really, but wouldn't it be nice if it was that simple to lose all your bad cravings...) I did, however try one thing that still was as good as I remembered it..... Stupid Garlic Fries!!!! Just had one...but it did still taste good, so I realized I was playing with fire with this "sampling game" and haven't gone off course since.
Just wanted to share this experience and curious if anyone else has had the same results/aversion to things you once loved to eat.
