Can I come in and play?

Postby Sojourner » July 25th, 2006, 5:04 pm

So............

I found this forum a couple of weeks ago (I don't even remember how) and started lurking. It is way addicting.

I've been on MF for two weeks and two days and have lost a total of 21 lbs. Yes, my friends, TWENTY-ONE POUNDS and crossed into Onderland. Woo Hoo!!!

Here's my problem: I placed my order directly from the MF website, but I would really, really like to join this group--you people are so inspirational and enthusiastic and just really REAL. Everyone's studio pix are awesome, and I feel as though I already know most of you. DeDe, Lori, and Jo, your pix are hot! Simply. A-mazing. You are Phenomenal Women. You are ALL incredible! The "realist" and ever-patient Dogma, the wise and wonderfully sweet Silver Fox, the completely compliant Falisamarie, that lime-green-sandal-wearing-girlie-girl Nova, the skinny-in-scrubs Arklahoma, the persistent and persevering TT, the hilariously and caustically funny Alphafemme, that funky firecracker LilEmo, the gonna'-be-a-hottie-again-if-it-kills-me BamaBabe, the marrieds Sharon & Tony and Mike & Diana, biker babe Elke, the doggie doc with all the letters in her name that I used to try to say phonetically until I finally got it (duh!), the returning Eddie, Holy Camoly Joelie, graphics queen JennP, the Nikki/Nicki chickies, all the Kims, Ginabobina whose name makes me sing that song every doggone time, the really insightful and it's-nobody's-beeswax-that-I'm-losing-weight Sidrah, the oh so lucky island-dweller alohacate, pb-cup-shake inventor smartipantz, dressing room dancer Fluffy, and that wise-cracking and scale-addicted Turkey Dude: I have learned SO much from you folks already, and completely believe that I will reach my goal with your support and advice to assist me along the way. Oh, have no doubt, I will reach my goal in any case, but it seems as though it'll be a much more entertaining and informative ride with all y'all along. I've spent hours reading journals and checking out the pix in the studio and cruising the various areas of the forum, and I don't wanna' be just a stalker anymore(!)--[size=18]I wanna' be one of you!!

I've decided on a forum name and everything--it's Sojourner. See, I've only had a weight problem for the past several years and now that I'm leaving Fatville, I've decided that it was just a temporary, albeit extended, stay. The very definition of a sojourn is just that: a temporary but extended stay. So long, Fatville! Buh-bye!

So where do I go from here? What do I do, register?

Thanks!
Sandy (soon to be Sojourner)

Wow, you HAVE been checking us out!!

Welcome, Sandy!! Basically just register on the site, and you're in. You can place future orders through Make Me Thinner, but you don't need to. If you want to continue ordering through Medifast or Take Shape For Life, that's fine, too (I would recommend ordering here, though, so you can get a health advisor - but it's entirely up to you).

And congrats on your success so far. It sounds like you're off to a fabulous start!!

Dadnabbit! I knew I was gonna' forget someone!! Sorry Marie. I do remember you though...you're the one that thought everyone had to know each other from the "outside" because they were to too tight to know each other from just this forum--right? I thought so too at first, then I realized how close people who are on the same journey can be. It a real bonding process, a walking through the fire together kind of thing.

I also forgot people that I've really enjoyed like: jump4joy, lilgorg, dramaqueen, karli, and sheila.

Sorry, if I missed you!

Thanks Robin for the info. I will register right away. I like the idea of a health advisor, so I will likely place my next order here.

Gracias!

welcome to the place where blubber disappears.

it's a really awesome group here. i appreciate everyone more than i can say. they're all so great and supportive-- and very real and kind. except for sharon r. i have the feeling she's a handful, but i have to ask tony r about that.

(just kidding, ms sharon).

you have done some amazing losing. i hope you post often so we can get an idea of your personality and quirks. speaking of quirks, it's 84 degrees and i'm back off to the trails. robin is right; i DO make other obsessive people look completely normal.

Omigosh supermom! I can't believe I forgot you too! I feel so bad, 'cause you were one I wanted to reply directly to--and then I go and forget to mention you altogether. What a dork!

So really...I used to live in Amarillo once upon a time. I was only there for about a year, and this was in 1984ish. How long have you been there? Do you know where the Fifth Season Hotel is--the first one, not the one by the airport? I used to be the Assistant Manager of the restaraunt/club there (the Four Seasons Club). I was 22-years-old and really skinny then. Mmm mmm mmm. There were a bunch of really gorgeous oil cowboys in Amarillo and them parts. I had SO much fun while I was there...prolly TOO much fun! Ah, memories. ;)

Anyway...HI SUPERMOM!

Yes, I know the Fifth Season's. It isn't what it used to be though. I have been in Amarillo for 10 years. I was born and raised in Shamrock. My dad and uncles are some of those fine oil cowboy types!! My husband isn't bad, either. Still, there are lots of HOT HOT HOT guys around here. They just seem to be getting younger, though. Or, maybe I am getting older?? I don't know. I am coming up on my 34th birthday, and am really struggling with it. I don't know what is going to happen! I may just lay down in the middle of the floor and pitch a big ol hissy fit like I did when I turned 25. I locked myself in the bathroom and would not come out until everyone had left. Then, I lay in the floor of my parent's house (they had thrown this HUGE surprise party for me---flown in friends that had moved away, etc...) and looked at old yearbooks and scrapbooks and cried and drank a FEW BOTTLES of wine. Then, I puked for 2 days. Oh well. Maybe it won't be that bad. I wouldn't want to set a bad example for my kids!!

DeDe, JennP, Alex, Doc, and Jo:

Thanks for the welcome! And, yes, I am very excited. I'm just so done with being uncomfortable and unhealthy and unhappy with the way I look and feel.

Alex, be careful what you ask for! My personality is skewed and my quirks are far too many to identify. You'll see. And where in Cali are you that it's only 84 degrees? It's been hellishly hot here in Motown-- seriously, like 112 over the weekend. Bad enough right? Apparently not, because our central A/C decided it was too much to cope with and gave up the ghost on Saturday. Of course, during this heatwave, all of the A/C companies are swamped and no one can come out until Thursday to fix it (that's the earliest I could find :x ). Oh, did I mention that I was in the midst of painting my kitchen too? Yeah, that project was quickly put on hold! Half of my kitchen looks great though!

It was ONLY 110 today, and the forecast says it'll be all the way down to 103 by Thursday. Yeesh. We have several fans out, but all they do is blow hot air around and even five or six showers per day provide little relief, so we are actually going to kennel the doggies and spend the next couple of days at a local hotel because neither me nor DH can take it anymore. This heat is not to be messed with--last night's local newscast reported that there have been EIGHT heat-related deaths in this county since Saturday. The Doubletree will be a welcome oasis--and yes, I'll be packing my packets along as well.

I'll have to take my laptop and use the hotel's wireless to keep in touch. I'm out of school for the summer, and I don't work, so...you'll be hearing a lot from me for the next month or so, but when school starts in Sept I'm sure I won't be around as much. Hopefully, by then, I won't be AROUND as much either. LOL.

Oh, and supermom--35? Are you kidding me?! You're just a pup! I'm telling the Silver Fox you're traumatized over 35, she'll fix ya'. Besides, considering that the alternative to having birthdays is NOT having birthdays, I'll take as many as I can get. In November, I'll be 45, so stop it already!

Thanks again, everyone, and I'll type at'cha later.
