But I had a whole lot of fun.
There were 22 singers in the competition, and as luck would have it, my name was drawn to be the first singer....
Now, if there is anything you don't want to be, when you are competing with 21 other singers, it's being the first one to sing. No way you can win it unless you are a combination of Celine Dion and Lindsay Lohan...(Hey wait, if you combine their weights, I just might be!)
I think I sang pretty well, if audience reaction is a good measure. Got a standing "O" which again, would have been great had I been somewhere in the middle of the pack. But singing first, by the time the 22nd singer has finished, your first performance is pretty well forgotten.
So, I was a little disappointed, but wiser for the experience. I think I may limit my "contest" engagements, however to competitions with a slightly more "senior" flavor to it. Two of the judges were "rap artists" and the 3rd was a youth outreach director who believed "singing is a worthwhile endeavor for young people...and helps set them on a positive life path".
(So that's where Jack the Ripper went wrong!!!)
At any rate, thank you all for your support as I endeavored to sing my way to bling and fortune... You've all been wonderful.
