Calories

Postby cynben » February 1st, 2006, 12:37 pm

Can someone please tell me the approximate number of calories we are supposed to consume during our "lean and green" and how many for the entire day. I am afraid that I am going to make my body think I'm starving (even though I'm not even hungry)! :)

Hi Cynben. I don't think we're supposed to be concerned with calories so much. The guidelines are 7oz (after cooking) of chicken, turkey or fish. 5oz beef, pork, lamb. Two cups salad greens and up to 1/2 cup raw veggies OR 1 1/2 cup cooked veggies (on the approved list of course). The total number of calories per day are 800-1000. According to the quick start guide. If you're sticking to these guidelines and are eating every 2-3 hours, you will not go into starvation mode, but rather will maintain ketosis :)

How ya doing with the program? Not hungry?? I wish!! HAHA....I definitely have to tell my stomach when it's gonna eat, cuz if I listened to my tummy, I would be eating a good bit more!! :)

Joyce- I have been having to MAKE myself eat or drink during the day. I don't get hungry at all, but I do get cravings. My "mouth" gets hungry..you know, for fast food and stuff...all the things that got me to this point in the first place. I do, however, look forward to the lean and green, but afraid that I am eating too much meat or too much salad. I guess I will always have food fears.

I know exactly how you feel. I told my health advisor that the food portions are huge but was assured that it was not putting me over the 800-1000 cal Joyce mentioned. I guess most of us will always have "food fears" but so many people have lost weight on Medifast so just trust the program and do it!!! I will make you a deal if you will do your best to just trust the program without fear I will do the same!!

Keep shakin
