calorie counter charts

Unca- please, move this if this is not in the right place-

 caloriecounter dot com is a super little site. There are, they say, 1000 foods listed; listings include serving size, fat gr., calories, carb gr., protien gr., etc...
I find that their list makes keeping close track of L&G calories & carb grams do-able (well, for me anyway).
:? Can someone tell me the # of allowable carb grams per day? I have looked but cannot seem to find that particular # anywhere!
Wishing you a thinner Thursday!

Hi Amber,
I don't know if I ever knew the "correct numbers" I'll bet that Nancy does!!! As for the rest of us we just follow the program to a "T" with the motto "if it's not in the Quick Start Book" it doesn't go in us. That way it makes the program very very simple and very easy. Just the way I like it. Frees me from my pesky calculator and all the counting. :D :D

I, too, follow to a "T". I am just one of those anal types who likes to have numbers to keep track of; weekly intakes : weekly losses, etc...

I think the L & G is 300 calories. The daily carbs allotment is 80 - 85 grams. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Good Morning, Amber ~

Great info and it is appreciated. I love this Forum!

re: carb info...

The carbohydrate level for people on the 5 & 1 Program is approximately 80-85 grams per day.

The protein level may vary depending on what protein source a person selects but it is pretty close to the carbage grams. The caloric intake ranges, too - anywhere from 800 – 940. It can possibly be as high as 1000 calories per day depending upon the protein, vegetable, dressing and snack choices.

The fat intake is relatively low. Most of the Medifast meals have just a little bit of fat in them; typically we have 25-30 grams of fat or less per day on the 5 and 1 plan.

People that are diabetic or on the senior meal plans have slightly higher levels as their dietary needs and program differs from the regular 5 & 1 Program.

The various calorie/carb counters are truly helpful for maintenance. I use my handy dandy calorie, carb & fat counter booklet all the time. Some people have handhelds that they keep in their briefcase or handbag for dining out.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...

Do to my (non diabetic) severe insulin resistance my Doctor has me keep my carb level between 30-50. So I have to substitute Medifast shakes and bars with Atkin's shakes and bars.
I still use Medifast soups, puddings and do a lean and green meal. He also has me keeping my calories between 950-1300.
So I can not do the medifast plan 100% , but I have had good results doing it this way.
If I could put time in a bottle, I'd drink it! ;)

Cheers, Sheryl

Can you not have the Medifast diabetic bars and shakes?

I still don't get how they can say to keep it at 80-85 grams a day but that the supplements are interchangeable other than the bars. If you have, say, chili five times a day plus a lean and green with 10 grams of carb (which they've also said is the target), then you just had 90 grams of carb (and that's without the allowed snack). Pudding and most of the other supplements will get you within range - as long as you don't add the snack. But add crackers or soy crisps, and you're way over.

Medifast Diabetic shakes have ........6 net carbs
Atkins shakes have ........1-2 net carbs

Medifast Diabetic bars have ........18 net carbs
Atkins bars have ........2-3 net carbs

I save my carbs where I can. I would rather spend them on the Medifast soups or puddings. And on my green veggies for my L&G. ;)
