Cabbage and onions

Postby Jen » July 2nd, 2006, 10:50 pm

I made a really delicious and easy green tonight for my L&G so I thought I'd share it.

1 large onion
1/2 head of green cabbage
1-2 tsp olive oil
pepper
salt (optional)

Slice the onion and cabbage into long thin strips.
Saute the onion on medium-low in the olive oil.
After the onion softens up, add the cabbage. Toss it around and let it cook down a bit.
Add pepper and maybe a dash of salt if you want.

I cook mine for about 15 minutes so the cabbage is still slightly crunchy. It makes more than enough for one L&G, but it keeps great in the fridge.

And if you like that Chinese-food-sweet-n-sour taste, add a dash of Splenda while you are cooking the cabbage. Careful though, a little bit goes a long way!

We cook cabbage and onions too, but we put ours in packets and grill them. Sometimes we add a bit of green chili or jalapeno pepper. YUM!!!

Mmmm, that is basically what I do w/Napa cabbage & onions w/ a few modifications. I also add cubed flavored tofu to make my complete L & G. I never knew I could grow to love cabbage so much.
