Brand new; a little help?

Postby blondie » March 31st, 2006, 10:43 am

Wow--I have been researching more "drastic" diets and keep coming back to Medifast and this website. I am about ready to order and wondered if any of you have any tips on any products/flavors that are not that great? I think I have gleaned from reading this site the items that sound especially good. Also, any thoughts on the chicken salad product? Yay or nay? I am scared and excited and this support group forum seems like it could really help; honest sharing, true support--how many of you have found that to be a huge key to success?

Thanks for your input!

Hi there Blondie! Welcome! I would personally recommend calling the toll free number at the top of this page and talk to a health advior. They can give you A LOT of information and if you decide go the medifast route, your personal health advisor will guide you through out your entire weighloss journey and transition. The best part of this your health advisors support is absolutely free!!! No one will call you and pester you into taking the plunge, they will simply answer your questions and help you make an informed decision. Hope to see more of you!!!!

Blondie,
This is my first day on Medifast so far but I have been on this forum for about a week and the support you get here will totally help you.

So far today I have had the French Vanilla-yummy and the chicken noodle soup-good and the bar-average protein bar taste.

I got the 2 week starter kit to see if I liked it before I spent a bunch of money and I can already tell this is something I can do. I pray I see the kind of results everyone here is seeing but this seems to be a good choice for me. If it wasn't for this forum and the loving caring people here I don't know if I would have even ordered and then been able to start the program.

Keep posting we will keep you motivated while you wait for your shipment.

It's hard to say which ones you will like and which ones you won't, because tastes vary so much. :) Some people hate the chili, others love it. I love it, it feels like a real meal to me (I add garlic and stuff to it though). I LOVE the oatmeal, I think most people do. It tastes just like regular oatmeal I think. :eat:

Out of the shakes, I think the banana creme :coolnana: is my favorite, but I also really liked the orange and the chocolate is ok too. Vanilla is great because you can add in some sugarfree jello to flavor it however you want! (I love strawberry!) :beerbeer:

I think the chicken and wild rice is pretty good, I think it has real pieces of chicken in it and it's my favorite soup. I had a taste of the creamy tomato sample and it was good. Hmm I think everything is good, except the strawberry shake. Bleh. But you may love it, never know. :)

Don't worry, if you try something you don't like you can trade with others here on this forum in the Swap N Shop section, so never fear!

Thanks to you both!

I will phone the 800 number before I order--good tip. What a wonderful group you all seem to be; I know that when I have attempted to lose weight, or even after I have lost weight and am maintaining, one of my downfalls has been not talking to others about it enough; I tend to be an island who feels I have to do it all on my own. I have a husband, kids, friends, family; but for many reasons I just want to do it, be strong myself, and that's it. However, doing this journey alone just doesn't cut it. SO, I am thankful to have found you all and will gratefully ask you for help and support and encouragement and will gladly give that to you, too.

Blessings--

I agree that it is so hard to make recommendations. I too thought the food was average on my first day. I actually gagged on the oatmeal, and I LOVE oatmeal! I'm not trying to scare you out of this, so keep reading. By using the tips in the Lean Cuisine section below, my 2nd day oatmeal was YUMMY with a packet of Splenda, cinnamon and nutmeg added.

My own tastes have changed since the beginning. We learn little legal tricks and experiment until things are just the way we like them. Then a few weeks down the road, your tastes change again. Those average protein bar tasting bars now taste like CANDY to me. And I think that's a GOOD thing. Others tend to stay away from them BECAUSE they taste like candy.

Give it a try. I know you'll find MANY things you like. To each his/her own! There are also ways to order samples through this site.

Blondie- I just wanted to welcome you aboard and the only other thing I would suggest is that you go ahead and register so that when you do start losing you can be put into the "clubs" and there are other benefits too!

Free of charge of course

I like some of the bars - I agree the chocolate ones taste like other protein bars. Same weird texture.

I'd go with a variety, so you get some sweet and some savory flavors. And definitely trade away what you don't like. Or hang onto 'em, because tastes definitely change on this plan and what you hate in the beginning you may LOVE in a month or two (yes, I'm talking to YOU, oatmeal and pudding).

I think the cocoa tastes very much like regular hot cocoa, for what it's worth. I love the chili, but it took some doctoring and some getting used to.

Blondie ... Welcome to the party!

:partytime:

Making recommendations for the products are very difficult b/c so many people like/dislike so many different things. Most people doctor up their foods whereas, I pretty much consume them as is. In fact, when I first started the plan, I loved the chocolate pudding and now I just don't care for it. I think it's all subjective and you should give everything a try with a variety pack. Hope you enjoy the forums ... I think you're gonn love it here!

Hiya, Blondie!! Welcome to the journey!!

You know, that's the nice thing about the variety pack -- you can try them out, play around with alterations (see Lean Cuisine) and trade those meal replacements that don't make your palate (sp?) dance.

That's the thing I'm enjoying the most -- If I don't like it, I don't eat it! I choose something else! WHAT AN EPIPHANY!!!

(There's a thread down at the bottom of the forum for swapping.)

Hi

Postby dede4wd » April 2nd, 2006, 10:34 am

Hi Blondie!

I also am leery about recommending things because everyone likes different things and then their tastes change and they like something else entirely!

Personally, I'm not filled up by the cold drinks (tea, punch, etc), but that's me.

The great thing about ordering via this site is that you can also order a bunch of single-serving packets of everything and try everything. I order a couple of things I haven't tried before every month just to see if I like them, who would've known I LOVE smore's bars!

Also, go ahead and register, it's free!

Welcome and good luck!
