My box finally got here

Postby Yworry » May 12th, 2005, 4:38 pm

:clapclap: And i can now start in the morning. Today was the worst however!!!!! I went to the doctor and of course I am too heavy for the scale so I asked if she had any suggestions on where to go to get a starting weight. Her answer was maybe one of the LOCAL FEED STORES!!!!! :x :x :x . How rude. I know she was not meaning for it to sound rude but still. Just another reason to start in the morning.

Hey Clint!

I'm sorry you had to feel hurt today at your doctor's office. But ya know what? If I had to go to the feed store or wherever to get a weight I'd prance my self-confident butt down there and hop right on and weigh and then get off and strut right out 8) Who cares? Would you ever have a reason to go back in there? And besides that........you are choosing to weigh because you are excited and motivated about the weight loss that is coming your way!!! I say GO FOR IT!! Then when you're all thin and BUFF you can go back in there and take a BEFORE picture with you.......because NO ONE will recognize you!!

And by the way.........I love the CHOO CHOO :D

You must be very excited! I'm sure if you stopped by your local hospital and asked to be weighed one of the nurses would let you. maybe give the hospital a call and see what they can do (perhaps try the bariatric nurse station?????)

Congratulations on making the decision to do this, Yworry.

I will tell you that my best friend started this on Labor Day with 238 pounds to lose. Thus far she has lost just a few pounds shy of half of it, and the difference is awesome -- she looks good, even though she is still 120 pounds to go, and she feels fantastic. She had lost 60 pounds by Christmas, which was just under 4 months. She is doing the 5 and 1, too, so she is eating one regular meal a day that is "lean and green."

You will see the weight come off, and come off fast, if you stay true to the program. Good luck to you!

I remember reading in "My Big Fat Greek Diet" that the author had to use two scales to weigh himself. (Good book to read, btw.)

Just getting started on MF will make you feel better. And as those numbers move downward, you'll feel great! Good luck getting started!

hi clint!

i am so happy for you, you are so motivated to get started! that is what is important. bk had an excellent idea (hospital) and im not sure why your nurse didnt recommend it, i dont think he/she meant any harm but we all understand the scale sensitivity no matter how much we weigh.

im just proud of you for coming to this board, sharing your feelings and turning those feelings into motivation!!!! you stay focused on the positive and continue to come here to share

good luck and take care

Feed Store

Postby Jan » May 13th, 2005, 2:04 pm

You know what?? I'd get . myself to the feed store, weigh myself, write it down and use the doctor's comment as my motivation. Then when I'd lost (enough for a regular scale) I'd get myself to the same Dr-- hop on the scale and with a BIG SMILE say no more feed store for me!! My daughter is a pre-med student --(senior) and I know sometimes the docs are pretty factual w/o necessarily meaning to be rude -- that's just the way it is !!  So you can develop a "just you wait and see" attitude- the doc will probably be very surprised :D

"You look.......different" were her exact words.

Postby krandle » May 13th, 2005, 5:55 pm

Thinner. Was her next word.
Okay, Here is the story.
Last year i went to my local grocer and returned some diet pills for a refund. I was asked my i wanted to return them. But not for the obvious reasons. I was asked because i it was obvious that i needed to loss the weight so just take them. Then one of the cashiers told me i should consider GASTRIC BYPASS. My feelings were so hurt. SO i called and complained and calmed down. But i did not go back in there until i lost 35 pounds. Then is stopped again and started going back again almost 90 pounds lighter. And so I saw that same lady that made that comment to me for the first time since last year. She had NEVER said anything to me. That is until today. She walked up to me and said "you look different, thinner. You look good. What are you doing. I told her. And i said to the cashier who was helping me " people treat you different when you lose weight" . I smiled winked and thanked her for her compliment and left. No small talk. Just left. I have to be honest i dreamed of this day. But it wasn't as fabulous as i thought it would be. I didn' t resent her for being nice to me today for being smaller. I guess i have grown in some ways. But i had to except the fact that people do treat you different when you are overweight. Bad. And better when your not. That's why i can honestly say i will never have alot of friends. Because i know better know.
