Blood Donations...Can I still do it??

Postby justme » June 16th, 2004, 7:45 am

Hello Everyone,

I donate blood every 6-8 weeks and I was wondering how this will my effect my medifast program...they usually say you should have a full meal :eat: before donating and you know there are always juice and cookies after your donation. Would just having my shake work? I didn't want to go in and pass out or anything ;) so if someone would please let me know. Thank you so much!

Carli ~

You should not donate blood while on the weight loss phase of the Medifast Program. When you donate blood, you risk putting yourself into severe dehydration and/or shock. Being on Medifast is not compatible with blood donation. When you reach your goal weight and are transitioned back to regular food you may then return to your regular blood donation schedule.

While Medifasting it is really important to consisitently keep hydrated -that's the reason we frequently mention the importance of water intake.
