Bloated! didn't eat all meals

I didn't eat all my meals yesterday! and today i didn't lose anything and feel bloated.

I was hopin i would lose more. but nope

i had
banana pudding for breakfast
coffee with fat free sugar free hazelnut cream

then
Chocolate and strawberry shake mixed together
(enough for one shake)

1 liter of diet coke(i wonder if the coke bloated me)

Dinner I had chili
and more diet coke

I think i had about 24 oz of water

Any suggestions? Thanks

Gotta eat ALL your mf meals, gotta drink minimum 64oz of pure water...ease up on the soda....those are my suggestions :)

Whoa!!! Am I counting wrong or did you only have three meals yesterday?? You should be having 5 Medifast meals and one lean and green unless you are doing the full fast under the supervision of your Dr. and if you are doing the full fast you should be having six replacements. Maybe I read it wrong. I also concur with Joyce in that you really need to try and get in at least 64oz water a day. Let us know if I missed something.

Hi Holly. First of all, always get all of your meals in. Second, you need at least 64oz of water a day and I would definitely stop the soda. Other than that you're doing great!

oops! you read it correct i didn't eat enough yesterday! I guess i could answer my own questions. hehe i could clearly see after i wrote it what i did wrong. I am doing the full fast so i should be eating 6 meals a day.

I am afraid to do the lean and green just yet. since i need to have a better understanding as to what i am aloud as far as the green.

I really like sushi so i need to figure out how many pieces i can have .
of course without the rice.
and i wonder if i could have the miso soup along with the sushi salmon.

see what i mean im so unsure right now.

I felt like hell today so i goofed up again and had a little atkins bar even though everyone on here told me not to but i was on the road and felt faint and i didn't have any of my bars left. :(
but i felt better afterward.

so now ill consider that my 4th meal and then ill have 2 more by the end of today.

and then get on a better path tomorrow!

i can't belive how hard this is!! but i have had failure for the past 10 years.
as far as losing weight.

this board is soo helpful and thank you all for being so great!!!

I strongly suggest you at least try the lean and green. I really think that it would help you immensly. I realize everyone hs to do what is best for them and this is just my opinion but I can say for me personally that my lean and green is a huge help for me in keeping me on program totally. Just some "food" for thought

Holly,

Just a thought, but do you have a Health Advisor? It might be very helpful for you with your uncertainty to have one so you can exchange ideas for a Lean and Green and determine what you could/couldn't have as far as sushi and other cuisine that you like.

Just my two cents, but in addition to the forum here that would probably help you feel more confident in making decisions and following the program. :mrgreen:

Hi Holly,
You've gotten excellent advise. This is a different program and as Vicki said must be followed exactly. We don't want you to damage your muscle tissue. Remember it is a medical program and medically designed to lose weight in the quickest and safest way possible. If you don't have a Health Advisor please find one. They will be able to help you along the way. It's a learning process. We all learn as we go. Did you get the Quick Start Guide?? That's a great place to start. It will explain lots and lots of things to you. Be sure and drink 64 oz of water each day. All that diet coke was most likely not a great idea. Try and cut down on it as you go. Don't worry it will get easier. If you are doing the complete program 6/0 you need to be monitored by a Dr. The caloric intake is pretty low. Keep reading and check out the Frequently Asked questions section of the forum. I know the forum members will do their very very best to keep you on track. :D

(very bad-1/2 atkins coconut bar)

5oz chicken with tablesppon onion
16 ounces water

I got about 32 ounces of water all together so i did better today!

holding at 13 pounds in 15 days
13 pounds until first goal!!

I think it wll much easier now that i know i can have food!

Having food REALLY helped me alot!!! I feel better today!

holly, I'm jumping in where Vicky left off hon...that is still only four suppliments, no veggies, not enough chicken, not enough water, and the atkins bar is not on program sweety.

Did you get a "Quick Start Book" with your order? If so, PLEASE read it thouroughly then re read it until it becomes second nature. If not, call medifast and ask them to send you one. This book is the Medifast Bible!!! It is vital information for your success.

This program is VERY precise in it's balance...eat too little, you do damage, eat off program foods, you don't go into ketosis. If you want a program where you have more "freedom" to do it your way, you may want to look into another program. This program leaves no room for deviation. Everyone here will route for you and cheer you on to victory, but no one here will support not following the program. [/quote]

Morning, Holly, and I am pleased to hear you are feeling better! We still need to work on your food plan, though - you're getting closer, but still not in full MF mode, and you won't see the great success.

First, you must must must get at least 64 oz of water. Not only does it help you feel full between meals, it also makes your body process the food better (i.e. going to the bathroom) which will help decrease bloating. Buy a water bottle with a "sport cap" that you can just chug from, it goes down more easily. I buy the 24oz sport bottles and refill throughout the day, just 3 bottles, and I have already had 72 oz! Most of the "veterans" here drink significantly more than 64 oz, and we feel better for it, but at least get that amount in...

Second, you still didn't get all 5 Medifast meals in, you only got 4. Some people think that the less food/calories they take in, the more likely they'll lose weight, but that isn't the case on this diet. If your body doesn't feel like it's gotten enough "fuel," it will go into starvation mode, which means that it holds on to all calories and fat, and you will not lose the weight. So, it is really important that you get each and every MF meal in (all five) PLUS your lean and green...

Which leads me to the next point. If you are having chicken for your lean & green, you should be having 7 ounces of cooked chicken, not the five you mentioned. Also, you need to have 2 cups of vegetables with that, not a teaspoon of onion.

Holly, shortcuts will only hurt your success on MF. Throw out the Atkins bars, and any other non-plan items, they shouldn't be a crutch to lean on. Instead, drink some bouillon to make you feel better (less fuzzy, dizzy, weak), as the sodium absolutely helps - we all swear! :-)

And take care of yourself, we are concerned that you are not making healthy choices, and your health and well-being are the most important factors here. You really might benefit from working with a health advisor here at MF AND going to a doctor to work with you throughout the program.

Sounds like you had blood sugar issues in the first post which can be prevented by eating on time every 2.5 - 3 hours. The bars and RTD's are great to have around for such situations. Also, you should have some "green" with your lean - salad, cooked green veggies, etc. I use bagged salad and packaged "short cuts" chicken for a quick meal or if I've cooked something for dinner I can't have. I struggle with the water thing too although it really does make a difference! Good luck!

Are you counting the Atkins bar as one of your replacements? I think that you did and that is what the others are missing. Medifast is a balanced program and if you work it like it says the pounds will come off, I promise! I know that with being anorexic in the past you probably have a fear of food still but you need to do the program with complete faith! Yes it does seem like a lot of food and my hubby jokes with me that I am always eating but like he says "it must work the pounds are just falling away" If I may ask, did you ever seek any type of counseling for your eating disorder? I really think you would benefit from it if you haven't. Being obsessed with eating really small amounts of food is just as bad as eating too much. We need to find a happy medium and learn to use the proper amount of food the body needs to properly function. You are in my prayers :angel:

issues with food!

Lisa your right i do have issues with food. I used to feel so much more in control when all i needed to do to lose weight was not eat anything. these days it just doesn't work anymore.
I tried it a few months ago i went a week with no food at all and gained weight. so obviously it doesn't work!!

But it is very hard for me to get used to the fact that food isn't the enemy.

I have issues with water because i was afraid of the tap water for years. so i know its another mental issue i have. I buy poland sprng bottled water and its just so expensive to drink 64 ounces.

I buy 1pt bottles so i think maybe i should buy a 20 oz water bottle.

and see if that helps..it just makes sense to drink alot of water to flush out the weight.

Holly, have you considered a brita filtration system, either attached to your tap or the pitcher you put in the fridge? Maybe that will alleviate some of your tapwater anxiety? Also, if you go someplace like costco or sams club you can usually get the store brand water by the case for significantly less money. Water is very important to the success of this program for you, equally as important as getting in all of your supplements.

I agree with you regarding the similarities between the battles of weight loss and weight gain, they are both very emotionally and mentally challenging. My advice to you would be to do your very best to follow the medifast plan as it is directed and consider it written in stone. It is a very healthy way for you to manage your weight and guarantee you are getting the right nutrients your body needs to be healthy. If you are following the full fast are you doing it with a Doctor's guidance? With the full fast you are required to have SIX supplements a day in order to stay in optimum health. What is your total weightloss goal and target weight? I am sorry if I am missing something from another post.
