I think you're right, Brenda! I was really beating myself up for not jumping right back into the exercise. It was so hard to get into it to begin with, I don't wanna lose it! But I realize I'm gonna have to start back at the beginning. So for this week, I'm going for 20 min cardio a day. I'll wait 'til my energy feels back to normal before going back to the weights.

I'm glad you're doing better, but I'm also glad you've come to your senses and will take it a little easier on the exercise. You definitely need to build your way back up (but it won't take as long as the first time, most likely).

30 min on the elliptical today, yay! Then 15 min doing just a few things like push-ups, squats - no weights. I feel so good!

Yay for Payday! This Friday will be a 3-weeker for me, and I'm ready for it! Well, rent is ready for it ... and car insurance is ready for it ... and ... oh, well. At least the bills will be happy!

Katie, I remember reading your journal when I did MF last summer. I'm so excited we're back on track together and we're gonna rock the program! I'm so ready to be thin me! We've been separated for almost 20 years now!

Weighed in today at 201.4!!! Surgery day weight! I'm crackin' the 200 barrier this week fer sure!!!

And, I got up early this morning and exercised! This has been an even bigger challenge for me than starting MF! I am NOT a morning person. But today - I got up early, hit the treadmill for 30 min and still had plenty of time. I didn't have to rush, and got to work with 15 min to spare.

Now if only I can remember this good feeling, so I'll keep doing it and make it a habit!

Oh, best of all - I'm beginning to see my efforts to change my own habits rub off on Troy (DH)! He carries a lot of weight in his abdomen, which I've heard (or read) is especially dangerous for men. He already has a heart murmur. It took us so long to find each other (we got married later, in our mid-thirties), I just want us to be healthy so we can have as much time together as possible! Yesterday he met me at the gym and stayed the whole 45 min, and he's been using the treadmill at home, too.

That's awesome, and I'm glad he's following your wonderful example. (And yay for early morning workouts. I know it's hard to get up at first, but it really makes the whole day better.)

On the treadmill at 5:15 again this am! Yay! Did half an hour. It really does make a difference in the day!

The scales showed a .6 gain to 202, though. :( Argh. But, as long as I'm staying OP, it's gonna happen!

Feelin' a bit of stress - DH and I worked out the budget for this month, and it's gonna be tight, but ok. We're still catching up from me missing three weekends at the part-time job, and no OT at the regular job (sick pay). We've gotta squeeze out plane tickets to Indiana in October this month, too. Grandma isn't doing so well so the whole branch of the family in Texas is going up to visit. We have a plan and I know it'll all work out, but in the meantime I'm staying away from the break room!

Hey chicky!! You are gonna be right next door to me in October???? Maybe we can plan a day that we can get together????!!! How fun would that be? Columbus has a new discount airline that starts flying in October. WAY cheap rates. I mean cheap enough that people are flying into Columbus and driving to IN, WV, PA etc. Can't remember the name of it though. I will look it up for ya.

Great job on the AM treadmill. I have a hard time getting up to go to the potty that early in the AM. Life is gonna suck for me when I have to go back to work.

Didn't make it to the scales this a.m. I woke up really tired, so I slept an extra hour. It was a good choice, though, and I feel really good today. And we're closing up the office an hour early today, so I'll head straight for the gym after work.

Weighed in at 201.6 today. Headin' back in the right direction! Phew! :D

For a while now I've been downloading free weight loss podcasts from iTunes. Not all the podcasts are specifically applicable to where I am now in my journey to fitness, but they all have good ideas for exercise, diet and motivation - or all of the above. Listening to them on the way to work, or while working out or doing housework helps to keep me in focus, to keep my mind on the diet track.

I really like Inside Out Weight Loss - she uses visualizations to help in moments of cravings or crisis, and her overall intent is to help her listeners see themselves and their goals in a new way - to see attaining our fitness goals not as deprivation, but as having the opportunity to choose what we really want in the long run (health and fitness). The dude that does Motivation to Move is annoyingly chipper - but I gotta tell ya, he has a wonderful heart and his podcast is the BEST one to listen to while working out. The Fat 2 Fit Radio show is a great motivator for hitting the gym, and they discuss and de-bunk a lot of diet gimmicks. It consists of two guys - one who is fit and another who is on his own weight loss journey. The Reasonable Diet's 6 Minutes of Sanity is a woman who has excellent food tips that will be great when I'm in maintenance, but even now I really appreciate her encouraging nature. I also listen to Weight Loss and the Mind, two Canadian dudes who use visualization and the laws of attraction to attain fitness goals. They crack themselves up, which cracks me up. :) There's another one called Real Weight Loss that I haven't checked out yet. They're all free and they all have websites where you can download their podcasts as well as from iTunes. Listening to them has helped me so much, so I wanted to share them with ya'll!

Troy (DH) and I had a chance to sit down with a calendar and plan out the budget for the next two months. I'm so glad we did! It all makes sense when we time it all out. Deep calming breath. Wooooosahhhh. We were able to plan out when to pay each of the bills and still have a little left over for fun each week - and fit in the trip to Indy, too.

Speaking of fun, I'm looking forward to the long weekend! WooHoo! :) I work Friday and Saturday night, but Sunday night we're going to dinner and a movie with another couple and gf Melissa. Monday Melissa and I are going to a yoga center in the a.m. that is having a "Free Yoga Class Day." After that we're heading to Hamilton Pool, a natural spring out in the country near where we live. In the evening, a little live music in town. Can't wait! :)

Rodeo - we'll be in Lafayette, Indiana from Wed., Oct. 15th - Sun., Oct. 19th. Saturday we're going to the Covered Bridge Festival. Have you heard of it? Would ya'll like to meet us there?

While I was in college my folks still lived in Asia, so whenever we had breaks I'd head to Indy and spend time with my mom's parents. So many wonderful memories! Papaw passed away in October of last year. Right after that Mamaw was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, which is progressing rapidly. My mom's sister sold her house and my grandparents, and they bought a bigger house to live in together. I know Mamaw won't remember Troy for long, but I'm so happy he'll get to meet her 'cause he'll remember her. Almost all of our family on both my mom and dad's sides are in Lafayette, and I can't wait to catch up with everyone!

Let me know if you find out about the cheaper airlines! We get a pretty good deal on car rentals thru our AAA account. We were planning to rent a car in the Indy airport but we could do that just as easily in Columbus. It would be so fun to see you!

Hey, Bigger! Congrats on the scale moving back in the right direction, and the awesome strides you've made in the recovery. Quick!! Your weekend sounds great, and I'm a huge fan of live shows, so I'd be psyched about that too.

Let me say I am especially thrilled to see you forcing that morning wake up routine. I was NEVER an early riser, did everything at night, no matter how late, but when I finally made the shift (mid-medifast) into morning zone, it all just really fell into place on the exercise front. It sets up the day perfectly, AND you don't have to worry about your schedule if evening plans just pop up. Besides, I feel like I make better choices throughout the day because I don't want to mess up the great work out I had in the morning!

Anyway, I think it's terrific you've taken that on, and while I know it still sucks getting up early, pretty soon you'll notice your whole mind and body will make a shift, and you're going to become a morning person, and sorry to say, may actually be a little lame at night! haha

Have a great weekend!

That's it exactly, Lauren! It really makes me feel good about myself all day - like I went above and beyond for myself. Yay! And I love it that I don't have to feel guilty if I'm not in the mood to hit the gym on the way home.

201.00 today. Truckin' on - .1 lbs at a time!

According to Earl (my personal trainer) exercising in the am is best because your body is forced to use its reserves instead of anything you have consumed during the day. He also says that if you are going to do weight training in addition to cardio that it is best to do the weights (or other muscle workout) first then do the cardio. That way your body will use the glycogen from recent consumption first (during the weight part) then your cardio energy will come strictly from the reserves.

I am phsyched about maybe getting together in October! I looked it up and you will be about a 5 hour drive from me in LaFayette. Never been to the covered bridge festival, but I looked it up too and it sounds cool. I can't find that airline anywhere, maybe a travel agent can tell you about it?
