I've always wanted to see a Corgi! I've heard they really have their own little personalities! :D

Got back on that exercise wagon yesterday after work! Did a hard cardio/weight routine, and I am feelin' it today! It feels so good. I still didn't manage to get my booty out of bed early to do the treadmill, though! I really do want to make a.m. cardio a part of my routine. So, I've devised a new plan of attack. When that alarm goes off and I think, "I don't wanna get up and walk!" I'll change it to "I'm just gonna go the bathroom and let the dog out to pee." By the time I do those two things, I'll be awake enough to contemplate the exercise. Starting out smaller with just a trip to the bathroom doesn't seem as overwhelming. So tomorrow, I'm implementing Plan B - The Fake Out.

On the plus side, I dropped 3lbs! WooHoo! The 200 barrier is just 3lbs away! I really, really want to break it before surgery on the 30th. I can do it!

Monday night girlfriend Melissa and I made it out to hear some live music by some local guys, Matt the Electrician and Bob Schneider. I LOVE catching local live acts, and we haven't done that in forever! Usually our nights out involve some (maybe many  ) Mexican Martinis, but I found I didn't even miss them! We had the best time! WooHoo!

Tuesday night I got my hair cut and colored. It's really blonde on top now and darker underneath. I like it! I feel like a beach girl. I'll have to get DH to take a coupla pics to put in the journal.

Tonight Melissa, DH and I are heading out to catch another live act, The Dime Store Poets. I've never been to hear them, but I hear they're a lot of fun and put on a good show. Afterwards we'll eat at Katz's, a local New York-style deli restaurant. I LOVE their Rubens and they make the best fries. I asked DH to help me make good decisions tonight. I really want to be able to go out with friends and not have to stay away from certain places, but to be able to go anywhere and make good choices.

I think I'm offically giving up on the Pomegranate/Cherry shakes. I REALLY wanted to like them, 'cause I love the P/C Crystal Lights. Adding a little bit of the Crystal Light P/C powder to the shake does make the flavor more intense - but don't add the whole packet! Did that the first time and the flavor was so strong my eyes rolled back in my head and my tongue curled up into a ball! I'm still trying to get it to un-roll! But even with some doctoring, drinking the shake is kinda like drinking Kool-Aid flavored K-Y Jelly. I think it's a texture thing.

We ate at Katz's when my friend and I went to Austin for Memorial Day weekend! We had breakfast there on our way out of town (the club upstairs, Momo's, was the place we were supposed to go for live music the night before until she decided she didn't want to). Sigh. Good times. :)

And of course you didn't want to get up and do cardio if you were sore, especially from a workout the night before. You DO need some rest in between, you know!

BTW, I usually sleep in my running shorts (I know, kinda icky to some, but it doesn't bother me for some reason). Having them on when I wake up helps me, for some reason. You might also find some other incentive to get you going. Like, I have shows recorded on the bedroom Tivo, and I'm only allowed to watch them from the treadmill. So if I miss a workout, I don't get to see my show that day.

Ooo, the TiVo one is a good one. From now on, no DVR unless I hit the treadmill! Good plan!

Hey Tex - I was wanting to try those Pomegranate shakes. If ya got any left let me know and I'll trade ya something for them.

Good for you getting back on the exercise routine!! AND 3 pounds to go till onederland WOO HOO! for you!!! WTG LADY!

I know you are a Christian - do you have a devotional time? I was just going ot suggest having your devotional and treadmill time at the same time. If you know you are going to "meet God" at the treadmill that should give you a little boost to get there.

Here's a picture of our Corgies. The Tri-color is Noel and the Sable is her son Charley. If you ever feel like you want to live with a clown a Corgi is the way to go. They never wear out, seriously. When we stop throwing the ball for them they just take it to the steps and drop it down, then they run down after it, run back up and do it all over again. I can't even count the times I have be awakened by the sound of the tennis ball plopping down the steps and the roar of two Corgies running after it. They are a very popular breed with horse people. Even the Queen of England has a couple of them.

They're adorable!! That's hilarious that they play ball with themselves! I love it!

The devotional is a great idea. That's another area I've been working on - trying to be consistent with a devotional! Since Troy and I both are stuck with weekend shifts right now, we really miss attending church regularly. That would be a great way to add a regular devotional time into the routine!

Hubby Troy, Melissa and I went out to hear a local band, The Dime Store Poets, at Momo's last night. Afterwards, we ate at Katz's Deli. It was surprisingly easy to make good choices! I had a small filet and steamed veggies, and it felt so decadent!

It was a lot harder passing up on the drinks, though. I'm used to having a Mexican Martini or a glass of wine when we go out to hear music. I miss it as part of the ritual!

Plan B - Faking myself awake in the a.m. - worked! Sort of. It did get me up early! But instead of using the time to exercise, I ended up cleaning house. Fridays are really crazy for me - I work two jobs and am up all night. It's nice to be able to leave the house on Friday morning knowing the place is picked up, laundry is done and the zoo is all taken care of. So even though I didn't get to exercise, it's really good to know things are in order at home. And I usually have a couple of hours between jobs, so I'll be able to get on the treadmill then. Monday I'll implement Plan B for exercise, now that I know it works for getting me up! Yay! :)

Super pictures Tex! You are beautiful!! You look so happy too! John Doe is such a sweet looking cat. I'll bet he has a special spot right on your lap!

Don't sell yourself short, house cleaning can be great exercise ya know! At least you know that you can fake yourself awake.

Thanks, Rodeo! :D

Johnny is actually a girl (much to my surprise at the time). When I was in college, my roommate and I had just gotten our first apartment together. A classmate who lived in the dorms found a scrawny, half-grown kitten in a dumpster. He asked us to hold on to "him" until he could find a home for the kitten. The guy ended up dropping out of school and I never did see him again. Since it appeared "John Doe" was going to stay, I took him to the vet where it turned out "he" was a "she." She's been with me ever since! She's my sassy girl! All attitude and absolutely rules the zoo.

I LOVE the new hairdo, you look GREAT!

I just lost my corgi about a month ago and those cute corgi pictures gave me a happy smile!

I'm so excited for you to be so close to onederland! That's so awesome!

Your stories about going out and seeing live music inspired me also. I've been avoiding it a bit because of the "not sure about my ability to not have a drink while dancing" ability, but I do intend to do it soon!

You're doing so great!

Hey there Tex! Hope you had a good weekend (at work I know, but still...) Thanks for such encouraging words in my journal. Sometimes I don't feel much like a hero nor an inspiration (like now). Your comments lifted my spirits and will give me a boost to get my head back in the game. Thank you for being you!!!
