Best Scale ??

Postby Guest » April 24th, 2006, 7:14 am

Hello Everyone and GOOD MORNING!

Whew...made it through the weekend, no cheats (anyone ever feel that way)?

So...I'm sure you have all talked about this before, but I wanted everyone's in put on what the best scale is?

My husband can't use my scale, he exceed's the weight limit, anyone have one that goes to at least 400 lbs? I don't think he's at that weight, but I know that would cover it.

I am using a digital floor scale now, but not so sure it's that great....seems to be erratic sometimes.

Would love your input.

THANKS!.......Mara 8)

Digital ones are the most accurate I hear. I recently bought one, a healthometer, and it showed me as 2.4 pounds heavier than the analog one. :x

BUT, it seems to be accurate and says the same thing when I step on it a few times so I'm happy to have it. Fat and water % though.. that's another story. I don't quite agree with what it says hehe.

Tonia, where have I been? I just noticed you posted your picture as an avatar...did the silver fox threaten to beat you with her skinny stick? I LOVE IT!

Mara, I have the Take Shape scale I bought from the site...I don't know it's limit, but the batteries didn't last a month! I also had the 2+ pound difference going analog to digital, but I'm glad it's at least accurate!

I know Tanita has several digital scales that go from $55 to $75. I found them on nextag or dealtime or something. Good reviews.

Hopefully someone will have more experience. I'm very angry at mine for running out of batteries, so I can't talk about mine.

I bought a digi scale at bed bath and beyond. It was only 19$ after the coupon. They always have coupons for money off on anything in the store. Just pick up a mailer at the front of the store. Anyway, the battery is lifetime and the warranty on the scale is 25 years. It is a Homedics scale.

I bought the Weight Watchers digital scale at Walmart. It's named Dam Evil, or Devil for short because it informed me I was NINE pounds heavier than my nice, sweet, well mannered analog scale admitted to.

To it's credit, it IS accurate. Darn it. And it was only something like $25.

I think your husband would exceed the weight limit on it currently, however, you could (as a friend of mine has had to do) purchase 2 scales, have him stand with one foot on either scale & add the two weights together. Not an overly pleasant experience I'm sure, but I'm not aware of any digital scales that will read to 400lbs - my friend SEARCHED and couldn't find anything reasonably priced.

I also bought a Weight Watchers digital scale. Initially it was 1/2 pound heavier than the balance type scale I had been using. After a couple of weeks, it seemed to weigh pretty much the same. The Weight Watcher weighs in 1/10 pound increments. The balance scale weighs in 1/4 pound increments. Needless to say, I bought the digital because I needed to see those 1/10 pounds coming off. I believe that room temperature can effect the scales up or down. I also find that if I weigh once on the digital scale, then go potty, that the digital scale still frequently weighs the same as before. I believe there is some kind of memory effect involved. In case anyone is wondering, I am not obsessive about weighing - not at all. No way.

Dede Your post about the batteries made me laugh. Last Sunday I took the batteries out of my scale and had my kids hide them. I got them from them Saturday night and put them back in and NOTHING they had died! Needless to say I took my butt to the store and bought some new ones!

I have had my Tanita scale (low end of the line) for over 3 years now and just love it. I can step on it 5 times in a row and always get the same weight. My old analog used to give me 5 DIFFERENT readings and I would just have to take an average. Very frustrating.

PASHTA (I love that name!) I just saw your avatar picture. Oh, I do love it, too. I believe you do resemble your previous avatar.

Please tell DeDe that Silver Fox was very nice to you and wouldn't dream of threatening you with her skinny stick!Image

Thank you, sweet girl.
