Best NSV Day Ever...so far

Postby mellowmom » August 30th, 2006, 8:51 pm

Monday, the choir I sing with had their first rehearsal for the new season. The old one ended in early May. While I had lost 40 pounds by then, no one really noticed. (don't cha just hate that when you lose a lot of weight and the only reaction you get is...say, your face is a little thinner, or... did you get a hair cut?!?)

At any rate, I walked into the rehearsal hall and my fellow altos about fell out of their chairs. They all thought I looked great and so much younger. Even the one lady who had initially told me that the Medifast diet was "unsafe" and I shouldn't follow it, came up to me and said I looked fantastic.

But the best part of the evening occured a little later. The accompaniest, Mark, is a big guy and he knew I had started Medifast in March. Every week he'd ask me how much I had lost and as the pounds loss mounted he'd shake his head and say he wished he had the willpower. I gave him all the info I could on the program, encouraged him to check out this website, as well as the main Medifast one, but he was adamant that he couldn't do it, and that his partner didn't think it was a healthy, safe program. He was just going to stick with dieting and going to the gym.
So, at yesterday's rehearsal I noticed someone sitting at the piano bench just before practice started, with his back to me. I was just about to ask one of the women, who the new pianist was, when he turned around and I saw it was Mark. He got this huge smile on his face, jumped up from the bench and flew over to me and threw his arms around me. Told me I looked marvelous and then I just looked at him and said...what about you..."You've lost a lot of weight!" Big grin, he nodded and said, he'd lost 65 pounds. So I asked him what he was doing and he said, why I'm on Medifast of course. The week after the season ended he signed up. He hugged me again and said I had been the light at the end of the tunnel pointing the way for him, and thanked me again for telling him about Medifast and saving his life! He then said he could easily stay on the program for the rest of his life because it's made such a difference in how he feels. I can't tell you how great that made me feel. The look of happiness and contentment on his face just made the evening. Heck, it'll make my whole year!

So just wanted to pass that along to all of you out there who don't know whether to say anything to anyone about the program. If you're happy with it, and convinced it works, share what you know with others. You may save someone's life.

That's great. I bet seeing your influence on him makes you feel as good as you do when you see your own success. Makes me think of a song I like and I think of just these kinds of things every time I sing it (poorly, but no one can hear with the windows rolled up).

Be the light, be the light, let the flame that burns inside of you
Change somebody’s life
Be the light, be the light,
You may be the only candle in the night, but you be the light

You did good!
Don't really care as long as everything's better than yesterday was...
