no, not really.....
as you know, I was told Friday, to stop the Medifast regime and eat only small regular meals since I am to have a colonoscopy test due tomorrow. Well, I analyzed this alot and felt there is no reason why I should stop and on my own decided to continue with my Medifast meals (against MD orders). I was never on a complete liquid program to start off with. I just did not want to break the weight loss cycle by increasing the food intake.
I know I shouldn't go against my MD, but I see no danger or complications to avoid Medifast during these moments leading to the colonscopy. If it was medication, I understand, but Medifast is considered "FOOD". It is a meal replacement and I feel comfortable taking it. I have never had any side effect or issues since I have been on it. Guess what, I did not gained any weigh and am now 269 lbs.
Now my scheduled colonoscopy for tomorrow has being cancelled (due to heavy menstruation). So there is no need to take that dreaded colon flush med today. It was meant to be and the best thing is I feel good about myself. When my MD told me to stop, I was a bit shocked and could not come up with an answer to defend my regime. After leaving the offce and allowing me to think this through, I realized, I should continue. I called my MD yesterday morning and explained that I see NO REASON to halt since it is a healthy meal replacement and it is not medication. She agreed and said that it was ok. This issue had me bummed out since I was told to stop.
Now I can continue where I left off and feel like a great loser (in a positive sense). The colonscopy test has been scheduled for a later date and when that time comes, I will continue my Medifast since the MD gave me the OK.
... and I did say (but in my own words) what Unca Tim wrote in my previous post that Medifast is a
"FDA medically approved, clinically tested and used by Johns' Hopkins University, medically formulated, balanced, full of good stuff food. They want you to eat processed, unbalanced, by guess and by gosh combination of who knows what you'll eat foods, in comparison to a medically balanced program?"
It convinced my GI. Thanks Unca for the input, it helped me alot.
