Beef Question?

Postby Patti » January 19th, 2006, 10:16 am

If you eat beef for your L & G meal everyday, will that affect weight loss? I read where one poster noted that L.A. Weight Loss said you should eat beef one day then chicken for two days because beef takes longer to digest. I never saw any restrictions, other than portion size, on beef. Just wondering.

Hi, Patti ~

No there are no restrictions as long as you follow the portion control guide and select lean cuts of beef. Beef is higher in fat and cholesterol so many people choose to eat more chicken and fish but many people eat beef daily and their weight loss is safe and fast, too.

Hi Patti,

I for one love beef and yes my daughter did raise a steer -- but I've always loved beef. Plus since I love to search out the facts it was interesting for me to know that some cuts of beef (mainly the lean ones -- generally labeled loin) actually have less fat than the dark portions of chicken!! So be happy eat your beef. :D (No the beef counsel hasn't hired me as a lobyist as yet  )

Nancy and Jan....thanks for the input. Now I won't feel so guilty eating my grilled steak (although I did throw some chicken breast on with it this time around). It is much easier for me to grill a few pounds of steak and portion out a weeks worth of meals rather than cook every evening. The steak may be a bit more fattening, but as long as I am losing, I have no complaints.

I emailed the medifast nurse and asked that question and she said to limit beef/pork/lamb to 3 times per week.

Thanks, Suzy, I appreciate that!

Beef happens here on very rare occasions. Like maybe 1 - 2 x year.

Suzie, thanks for the information on beef. Looks like I will have to regroup on my eating plan. I have a freezer full of trout and redfish....I love to fish....but do not like to eat it. I usually give it all away.

beef

I seem to crave grilled sirloin every day, with mesclun and onions. I've lost 12 pounds in 10 days - probably water. I have tons of wild salmon in my freezer (and the Bumble Bee wild salmon cans- like tuna, but wild salmon), which I know will be better for my skin, hair, and energy, because of the Omega oils -- but I really crave the sirloin. I will redouble my efforts to limit it to 2-3 times a week.

You have definitely enjoyed a great loss in a short amount of time! Mesclun is a nice blend for a green salad.

As time goes by most cravings will go away.

What does your daily meal plan look like – time of day, products eaten?

Are you male or female? Perhaps the Medifast 70 shakes would be satisfying to you.
