Back from my hospital stay. Actually got a Two-fer. Got the nasty gall bladder taken out and while he was in there, the doctor decided to repair my hernia at the same time. That turned out to be kinda tricky as there was a bunch of scar tissue (from 3 C-sections) and things stuck to one another that shouldn't have been. (Won't get any more graphic than that...)
He was able to do it all laproscopicly (sp?) but he's concerned about my liver. Said it looked "bumpy". May be due to having a "fatty liver" for 20+ years, or from the sickly gall bladder, and one of my liver enzymes was off, so I'm gonna have a biopsy in a couple of weeks. Other than that, I feel pretty good.
I gotta say, a hospital's idea of what makes a good "diabetic" liquid/soft diet is interesting. The liquid portion was broth (Yucky...no salt, more like dirty hot water), sugar free jello (two little tubs), hot tea and apple juice. Only the kitchen kept giving me non-diabetic meals with real jello (as "real" as jello can get) Then today they moved me to "soft" foods... Breakfast: cream of rice, scrambled egg and hashbrowns, and orange slices in syrup and apple juice. lunch: a tuna sandwhich, cream of chicken soup (I think it was cream of chicken), crackers, apple juice, low-fat milk and low fat- vanilla pudding. I tried to stay compliant, but the hospital wouldn't let me bring in my Medifast meals so i kind of "ate around" the food they'd allow me,.
Only instructions from the doc when he discharged me was to stay on a low-fat diet for now...(no problem there). It felt so good to be home and be able to get back on Medifast.
Thanks to all of you for your good wishes and nice comments on the updated Studio pictures. It means a lot to get your feeback and to also know that it might help others on the program by showing them what can be done if you just stick with it.
