Day 57 of Compliance
Thanks everyone for stopping by while I’ve been away. Your encouragement is playing a big role in my success. It’s so nice to know I’ve got a group of people behind me that’s as happy about my achievements as I am.
Today is my
8 week weigh in and I’m down another
2 lbs for this week making my overall
total 25 lbs! The 30 lb club is in sight and my plan is to just keep doing what I’m doing knowing that I will eventually get where I want to be.
After missing all those days of exercise last week it’s been really nice to get back into the groove this week. I’ve been able to switch back to morning workouts which are what I prefer. I like the feeling working out gives me that lasts throughout the day. It’s like I’m stoking my fire in the morning and I can still feel it into the afternoon. It’s hard to explain…it’s like my muscles get awakened and I am more aware that they are there burning up fat even while I’m just sitting at my desk. I guess that’s the “high” or the “buzz” we always hear about. Whatever it is, I love it.
This love of exercise is a strange thing for me, because I have never been athletic. I think its Robin that I’ve read say that she wasn’t the least bit athletic as a child. Ditto. My husband teases me that I’m the least athletic person he’s ever met. I don’t disagree. I’m one of those people that if picked to throw out the 1st pitch at a baseball game, I’d be aiming for home plate and the ball would end up at 3rd base!
Nonetheless, I am really enjoying myself lately and plan to keep moving!
Last night I was watching the Biggest Loser and someone was talking about your “calorie bank”. Something along the lines of you need so many calories to sustain your body weight. If you want to lose weight you must burn off the excess calories you consume. For whatever reason, that seemed so profound to me last night. Weird because it’s a fact I’ve been well aware of for years but last night it really hit home. That’s how I perceive maintenance. To keep the weight off you either limit your calories to what your body will use on a daily basis, or if you consume over that you must add activities that will burn up the extra calories. It seems so clear to me today. I’m hoping by writing this in my journal I can come back here on days that are not so clear. Days when my brain is fogged with fatty foods and holiday treats and wanting to eat like everyone else—whoever they are that day.
Oh and I took my measurements yesterday. Obviously after 25 lbs, I’ve noticed a tremendous change in my clothes, but I didn’t realize just how much until I measured.
Waist-----------------5.25 inches
Abdomen------------6.25 inches
Hips------------------6.50 inches
Thighs---------------4.00 inches in each leg
I am starting to see muscle definition in my thighs and biceps and I can feel them in my abs. Of course they are all still covered by a layer of fat, a THICK layer in some areas, but it’s nice to know there will be some toned muscles under there once I finally get all this fat burned off.
