Applebees ?

Postby Taszi17 » May 13th, 2006, 6:37 pm

Hey guys just wondering about what I ate from Applebees last night. Didn't lose anything this morning so you know I am analyzing everything now hehhe. The only thing I found besides huge steaks was this spinich and grilled shrimp salad. It had grilled shrimp and spinich--duh--then red onion, red peppers(didn't look fresh kinda like the jar kind) and of course the dressing was on the dang thing not on the side. It was a ouch bacon vinigrette. There was very little on it but I am sure that hurt.

Let me know if anyone else has tried this and if it is going to totally kick me out of ketosis (just went on the ketosis strip and don't see any pink :( )

And of course if there are anyother choices at Applebees that I can have besides ordering 7 oz of grilled chicken and 1 1/2 cups of broccoli hehehe

OK, first, fat will not kick you out of ketosis. This is why Atkins dieters are in ketosis, and in much deeper than we are. We are in such a mild state that it normally doesn't show up on the sticks or will show up as "trace."

Personally, I'd have sent back the salad to get the dressing on the side. But what's done is done, and I wouldn't worry about it. Restaurant food generally has more salt and fat than what you'd cook at home, so the extra salt is more likely to blame for the scale not moving.

As for what else to have there ...
Steak - just have part of it and take the rest home (depending on which size steak you get)
Fire-roasted shrimp sounds like it's OK without the "creamy cilantro drizzle"
Fajitas are always a good choice, if you stay away from the cheese and tortillas and sour cream, etc.
The WW grilled tilapia, without the black beans and corn
The WW teriyaki steak and shrimp, with the teriyaki on the side
They also seem to offer grilled shrimp WITH their steaks, so you could probably get them to give you just some shrimp with a side of veggies if you ask nicely.

hehehe dogma you crack me up :) Sounds like a plan. It was a carside to go order (in my painting clothes hehe) so I didn't know about the dressing till I got home but I will be checking from now on.

The choices are fabulous thank you sometimes the menu just overwhelms me ya know.

Thanks

Ah, well, yeah, if it was to-go, then you did the best you could. Some people would recommend blotting up the dressing with a napkin or paper towel, but I'd just shake off what I could and not worry about it.

We're in this for the long term, and life's full of little slips like this that you can't do much about.

And I'm kind of a freak about studying online menus for things I can eat. So I know which restaurants are OK and which are going to be too difficult. And because even now I like reading about food and get a vicarious thrill even from the stuff I can't eat. Sigh.

Looking online

Postby Mike » May 17th, 2006, 10:53 pm

Just checking online the menu shows a few salads that would probably be okay. Keep dressing on the side. Most restaurants will leave out what you don't want. We have been eating out a few times this week and have found some nice things at places like Marie Callender's, Black Angus, Tony Roma's, Johnny Carino's, etc. You just gotta be careful 8)
