Anyone have gallstones during MF diet?

Postby Hopebaby » October 17th, 2007, 4:12 am

I think I am having gallbladder problems. Since Saturday I have been having horrible painful attacks during the night and early mornings. At first I thought it was something I ate for my L&G then I thought it was a stomach bug but it has gone on too long and it is too painful.

Yesterday a lightbulb went off and I remembered reading that people losing weight quickly sometimes have gallbladder issues so I researched it online. I was shocked to see a list of possible contributing factors and I had nearly all of them. I also had the symptoms described. I don't have time for this! And I don't want to quit MF and stop losing.

Has anyone else had gallstones? Anyone over 50?

A couple of years ago I had my gallbladder removed, it was completly full of stones and they were blocking the bile duct causing my pain. This might be your gallbladder and possibly your liver which is in the same area. Check with your doctor for tests to put your mind at ease!

Call your doctor. That's my advice. ;)
Pre WLS 460
Low after WLS 300
Start of MF 350
Previous MF low 280
Restart MF 330

Thanks you all. I saw a gastroenterologist and he says he would be very surprised if it is not my gallbladder. He ordered an ultrasound to be sure and I will have that tomorrow.

Hey, Linda ~

Good for you for seeing your doctor. I used to be plagued with gall bladder attacks - in my 'Before Medifast Life', I was a chronic dieter - going from fat-free short-term diets to frequent high-fat food binges. My liver and gall bladder couldn't handle it and rebelled. It is painful...

Take care of you!

(I'm gall- bladder free.)

Rapid weight gain/loss can make gall stones. Mine formed about 7 months into my pregnancy and hospitalized me 2 times. I can eat what I want know after having my gallbladder removed EXCEPT fast food and/or greasy food.
