Is anyone else FREEZING?

Postby bikipatra » January 10th, 2007, 10:20 am

I mean all the time. 50 days ago I was a hot-blooded latina and now I am cold all the time, even when it isn't cold outside. Now that it is, I am really suffering. My husband is grateful because before I wouldn't let him turn the heat on too often because it made me uncomfortable. I would tell him to wear thermals under his pajamas and get an extra blanket! (I can be so cruel!) I guess all this cold water I am drinking isn't helping....

ME TOO I am SOOOO cold right now in the office. My fingers are like ice. I know it's all the cold water I'm drinking. Plus something about our bodies and low calories and whatever make us cold as well. Makes it hard to drink the water when I'm this cold. But I still do, and add some hot tea in there as well :o)

Should have seen me after I has gastric bypass and lost 50 lbs in one month in December 2003. I froze the entire winter. I'm the kind who would wear shorts and a T-Shirt in 55 degrees. Now I bundle up and make sure I plan ahead.

Not only is fat a good insulator,
calories = heat

You're not putting near as much wood in the ole stove.

I hear ya! Normally my classroom is burning up but the past 2 days, I have been freezing to death. I have been asking my students if they are cold and they all look at me as if I have lost my mind. :eyecrazy:

I am freezing at this moment actually. I wish I had some MF hot cocoa here with me.

The kiddos are gone for the day, but we have to stay until the normal release time. I have a ton of work to do, but I couldn't resist logging on. I can't stay on long. Work must be done!!!

it's not only the weightloss and the lack of calories; when we diet, our metabolisms slow. i am horribly cold, and it is a lot worse if i skip working out for a day or two.

luckily, i have found my love of coats (now that i can wear one that doesn't look like i stole it from john goodman).

Hi

I was cold Turkey day till xmas, but I'm not as bad now. Just my hands and feet sometimes. This happened last time too. It's just a good reason for me to go up and get on the pilates machine.

I'm cold too! Usually I am comfortable with the thermostat set at 70-71. I've resisted raising it and decided to add wearing a sweater instead. Use a down comforter at night--that really helps! :snooze:

I've been freezing pretty much since I started a year and a half ago. First from the lack of calories and now from the lack of insulating fat (don't know about the metabolism, though; mine's been abnormally slow for years, but I was still always hot).

The upside is I don't think I ever could have survived the Texas summers if I hadn't lost the weight.

I'm like Dogma. I feel a lot better in the south Texas summer, but I'm cold all the time. I'm wearing sweats when the temp in the house says it's 73.

...and flannel sheets! As for layering, these days I always start with warm socks, a microfiber tank top and perhaps leggings.

You know, though, I'll take the cold "awareness" and the layering over the tonage of blubber I'm leaving behind!

Somewhere, I'm sure there's data about how many calories one burns whilst shivering. Kinda like "iced water increases weightloss." ;)

Hey Mike, I'm a middle school teacher also. I teach computers. :puter: I can't imagine teaching anything else. Most people think teaching middle school is insane, but personally I love that age. They still think I am funny. :bounce:

What do you teach?

Now that puts everything in a new perspective! We'll shiver and shake our way to thin! LOL
