Any Good Chili Receipes Out There???

Postby mellowmom » April 15th, 2006, 7:46 pm

I must be doing something wrong, but everytime I make the chili it turns into this kind of dried up looking glob, Some of the beans are cooked, others aren't adding to it's "nutty goodness" - NOT!!!!!

Has anyone tried adding a little more water so it comes out a little more moist?

Any idea would be appreciated.

Thanks,

MM

You can always add or take away water, depending on your taste. What I do is I put the chili in a bowl, add the 1/2 cup of water, then add chili powder, garlic powder and some original Mrs. Dash to it, sometimes dried onions and let it sit *edit* for an hour or two before I microwave and eat it. *edit*

It reconstitutes the beans way better, so they aren't hard. :) Oh I also add some Frank's Red Hot sauce sometimes. YUM!

edit: D'oh!! :dohdoh: Of course I microwave it lol.. I forgot to put that on there haha. I just let it sit for an hour or so first *before* I microwave it!

Hi MM,
Click on the Search button here and put in chili.

Then page down a little and on the left side it says "Forum" in a drop-down menu. Click on that and select the "Lean Cuisine" forum.
That'll give you 66 matches in the recipe forum to look over.

Here's one I found called "Chili Perfection" which by the name seemed like it might help you out.

Keep playing with it and you should be able to make it agree with your taste buds...:)

That recipe is similar to mine, although I cook mine in the micro. But I use a bit more water and make up several batches ahead of time. If you let it all sit overnight or more, the beans are fine. And that Better Than Bouillon chili base is wonderful, IMHO.

Thanks, Tonia, Unca and Dogma.

Great ideas. Seems that microwaving is not the best way to prepare chili.

Thanks again.
