Anxiously teriffied to Start

Postby Di » August 7th, 2006, 6:22 pm

I just made my first order and it will be here before the end of the week. :roflmao: I'm both excited and scared at the same time. I hate myself right now and am ready but losing over 100 lbs seems monumental to me. I'm 5'4 275 lbs, have diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression (gee wonder why?). At the end on the month I have to go to Kansas City for a conference and will be gone for 8 days with will be with family - not sure how that will all work they're going to think "oh here she goes again". Any tips will be more than welcome.

Welcome!! There's no need to be scared, although many of us were in the beginning. Will this work for me? Will I be able to do it?

Well, the answer to both is a resounding YES.

My main suggestions when you're first starting:
Measure and weigh yourself beforehand
Drink tons of water
Tuck extra packets/bars in your purse, your car, your desk, etc. so you don't get caught hungry and with nothing to eat
Stock up on allowable snacks like pickles, celery, Jell-O, sugar-free Popsicles
Order some Ready to Drink shakes; they're invaluable when you're on the run
Check out the Lean Cuisine section for ideas on preparing the packets to your liking

And finally, buy a good belt because your pants are going to be falling down before you know it!!

Hi Di,

Welcome aboard!!!

What a fantastic journey you are about to enter into. New adventures can always be a little scary and exciting all at the same time. You are going to love this program. The people here are so nice and have lots of experiences to share. Lots of words of wisdom and always a fun place to be.

I have over a hundred pounds to lose also. Just typing that IS scary!! Because even though the scales say so, I don't really FEEL like it's that much... until I see myself in a picture. Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words......

I wouldn't worry too much about your family or anyone else. You are doing this for you and I can only think that they would be so pleased to know you are trying to become healthy. Just wait until the pounds just melt off you body! Literally!

We are all here for you during the good, bad ...any time. Just come to this site and help is always at your finger tips.

Here's to a healthy new you. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Welcome Di!
I too was extremely nervous to start, but by day 3 on MF I was completely happy with my decision. (It's day 9 for me - I'm loving MF!)

Try not to worry too much about what others may think - you've got to do what's best for you & your health.

This is a common early fear around here. Some people choose to be open about their diet (myself included) some chose to be more private. Yes some people may say "Here she goes again" but when you are disapearing in front of their eyes it will be for a different reason then you might imagine.

Good luck!

Hi Di,

I just want to let you know that it can be done. Last October, I had 141 pounds to lose......talk about monumental! Now I can see the end in sight. 30 pounds to go and counting. I'm 5'3" and started at about your weight. If you need extra motivation, just go to the studio and look at my before and during pictures along with many others who have had success on this program.

If you stick to the Medifast program it can work for you, too. :D

My 2 cents ;).......you will be so focused, determined and already have awesome success by the end of the month that you won't even care what they say or think. Go for it! You can do it!
