Hi - I just turned 60 and realize that after years of bad eating, smoking (quit 5 years ago) not to mention drinking AND yo-yo dieting, it's time to really get the body back. So, here I go with Medifast. Reading some of the posts, most of you have done remarkably well so I guess it's just willpower, willpower and more willpower. Wish me luck.

Welcome Grandmom! You're gonna do just great on MF. I am going to quote my successful diet friend who told me "I'm going to wish you strength, because losing weight has very little to do with luck."

Congrats on the quitting smoking. If you can do that, this will be a piece of cake. OOOPS, sorry I said the "C-word"!

Well, I made it through the first day! Actually, it was easier than I thought it would be except I feel totally waterlogged drinking all that water. I didn't cut back on the coffee though - not sure exactly how much we are allowed. Anyway, thanks for all your kind words. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats for getting through the first day Grandmom!

excerpt from the book about caffiene
Limit caffeine...Limit coffee and caffeinated drinks to three per day. The low calorie level of medifast Meals may increase your sensitivity to caffeine, which may cause anxiety, shakiness or other symptoms.

Hope that helps.

Have a good weekend.

To Grandmom from another Grandmom, WELCOME!!! :D

Your story sounds like mine, sans the drinking(late husband used to call me 'one whiff', I never could get a complete drink down)! I quit smoking eight years ago. I finally 'woke up' in March and started MF on the 30th, never have looked back since!

Like others have said, the first three days are a bit tough, as your body adjusts to a 'new way of life'. But, very soon, you will feel great, have more energy, know you are getting nutrients you need, and doing without those, you don't need. I pass fast food places now, with pleasure, and never ever plan on getting into the drive-up lane ever again. Not even for a salad. Fast foods, and large portions, got me here, combined with a slow metabolism with having thyroid problems. I will not put this body through another session of yo-yo-ing, not at this age. When I now say, 'never again', I mean 'never again'!!!

If you have any questions, just ask them on the forum. You already found out that the best people in the world post on here. Or, PM if you prefer. Just get through each day, and before you know it, you will have completed one week, and you will learn to love a scale, like many have done! Not to mention smaller clothing sizes!! Again, welcome! :D
