It's done wonders for my Maggie. She can still chase squirrels with the best of 'em, even at almost 13 years old.

Let us know when she's out of surgery, OK?

When it rains it pours. I just got an email from my brother that he had to bring one of his dogs in and now money will be tight for a while. Now he has to get rid of one of the dogs because they wont stop fighting (for male position in the house). He is very upset. So if anyone is looking for a very cute terrier who likes to be the man of the house let me know. Berkshire Girl...they live in your area (Lenox) do you want a cutie??

Jenn,

(I will also PM you this.)

I'm sorry but I am tapped out on pets -- I can only have 1 per my very strict landlord, and I have a cat.

However! I will place your plea up at work, and I will contact you with any leads.

Also, if need be, if it comes down to it, may I recommend a shelter in the Berkshires:

Long-Term Care:

Berkshire Humane Society
214 Barker Road
Pittsfield, MA 01201
Phone: 413-447-7878

"The BHS is committed to never turning any animal away because of space, illness or temperament, thereby helping people who have no where else to turn. For the year 2005, the Berkshire Humane Society took in over 1800 unwanted pets and in addition to placing 100% of all adoptable dogs, 91% of adoptable cats also found homes."

*The BHS is where I adopted my cat. AN AMAZING PLACE. My workplace has been heavily involved with them for years. They do put down animals but only when absolutely necessary -- that is, animal is deathly ill with no chance of recovery or animal is hopelessly dangerous/vicious/damaging. They do their very best to rehabilitate all problematic animals with excellent trainers.

I will PM you their website too.

If you'd like, PM me with the name and phone number of the dog owner and I can have interested coworkers call them direct -- no promises but I will definitely talk him up! :) Give me some more doggie details!
***Plus maybe a charming photograph of him looking loveable? ;)

We are all animal lovers where I work -- we are even allowed to bring our pets to work! Crazy eh? Yep, I am surrounded by dogs all day. No cats yet, though if my cat gets super-brave, I might bring her in... ;)

okay, i spoke to the surgeon a while ago.
miz lilly is doing good. the surgery was routine, and her c.l. was in fact badly ruptured as well as some damage to the miniscus. i so cannot spell. ah, well. she recovered quickly from the anesthesia, and she was napping.

hopefully, she can come home with me tomorrow.

then (oh please, oh please) we will hopefully be able to convince her through sweet talk and tranqualizers to not be such a crazy dog for a few weeks. yeeeah. we'll see how that part goes.

i'm glad it's done. i was pretty worried.
after she gets setled in tomorrow, i'll go look for a shin red bow so she can start earning her keep!

but who wouldn't do anything for a face like this?

Sigh. Can't see the photo. But I'm glad she's doing well and through the surgery. (So wait, is Miz Lilly the same as Cleopuptra? They're not two different dogs, are they? Or are they?)

Now comes the fun part for you. But you'll be surprised how well she gets around on it so soon after surgery (which is a good thing and a bad thing, of course). Is she good about taking pills? Maggie usually is, but I think she got annoyed by how many she had to take, so I had to keep finding new ways to give them to her.

lilly is a pup with many names.

lil, lillers, lilly, lilith, lilith morgan, feets, cleopuptra, damn dog, pupasaurus, cecelia dog, small doggy, cornchip doggy, muttly, baby dog, bear, cocoa puff, puparella, miz sophia, pupmeister, rocket dog, sh*t howdy, mountain goat doggy, lilly the cat... the list goes on.

she'll answer to pretty much all of them.

and she, like most pups, will eat anything if youo shove it in a sliver of hot dog that has been warmed for 5 seconds.

i'm restless.
so, i'll do the thing i do and hit the gym. thank god for 24. seriously, cause nuts like me that get restless in the middle of the night need a place to go. before i restarted, i was frequently going for walks at 11 or 12 at night. granted, i still walk to the gym if i go to the local one (without a pool), but at least i'm not roaming around on foot in the dark for an hour or so like i was before.
besides, it's good for me.
and.. well, there's some good window shopping in the gym at night.
so, i'm off to visit mr treadmill, ms bicycle, sr pool, and (of course) dona sauna. i'd do some light weights, but my biceps and forarms are really ripped up from the other night.

the gym has a medical scale in the locker room.
last week, i weighed myself on it, and it had me at 244. my home scale still had me at 246ish. tonight, my home scale says 246 (water, i assume), and the gym scale has me at 241. :scratchhead:
i recognize that the gym scale is probably much more accurate since is old school and resistance based, but it would be nice if my home scale would catch up since that's what i go by.

puppy is home, but she is like a zombie.
she vomits, and she can't control her bladder...
so, she pissed laying down in my car, laying down in her crate, you get the idea. i called the surgeon and he said to just watch her. it's just that this is a dog who will hold herself 'til she explodes if that's what it takes. this sucks. i hope she is ok.

Yikes. That never happened with Maggie. I wonder if it's the medications or something. Poor thing.

She may be vomiting due to post-op side effects from the anesthesia. That should subside. Her bladder tone may be laxing still from having a catheter put in during surgery. Bladder tone usually firms back up in a couple of days post-op. Go with your instincts though and if no signs of improvement with in the next day I would definitely be back on the phone with the surgeon. Keep a close eye on her and good luck.
