Hi All

Postby mellowmom » March 26th, 2006, 9:14 pm

My order arrive last week, and I found myself making up excuses almost immediately why I couldn't start.

This past week, I drove my Mom down to LA for her 85th Birthday and this week I've got tickets to see Mary Chapin Carpenter, which means of course, we'll be eating out before the show, and then the next couple of days I'm singing with our local choir at a World Premiere and the following week I"ve got Opening Day tickets to see the Giants, (love those Garlic Fries), and it also happens to be my birthday and..... :aarggh:

I thought up all these reasons why I couldn't start YET... and reasoned that the website said not to start if there were any events coming up that centered around food...and then it hit me. :bricks:

For the past 50+ years I've placed food in the center of my life. :eat:

So I started Friday. Weighed in at 330 lbs. I've lost 4 lbs so far. I'm going to take it one day at a time.

I've got one adorable granddaughter who is four and another grandchild on the way. I plan to dance at their weddings.

I'll post pictures once I figure out how to do it...

Thanks for this forum.

Hiya Mellow Mom!

I SO understand your post! I always had 1000 reasons why I couldn't start MF yet, and finally decided that I couldn't NOT start MF NOW! I'm so happy you just bit the bullet and started!

MF doesn't KEEP me from doing any of those things, I even have more energy to do these things now. You're off to a GREAT start and we will be here with you any time you need us!

Thanks for joining us!

Also,

You can totally eat out on MF. I travel 250+ days a year and eat my L & G in a restaurant almost any night! I hope this helps!

Yeah, most of those can easily be worked around Medifast. The birthday will be tough, though. But there'll be other birthdays, right? You already know what birthday cake tastes like, and you can really enjoy yourself NEXT year when you're so much lighter!

Good for you for cutting through all the excuses! I think getting started really is the hardest part.

First of all let me say WELCOME to the forum. We are all here to support you in your journey.

There will always be events in your life that can make you come up with excuses... Im famous for that one! Half the battle is in your mind, once you get the right mind set that your gonna do this and nothing is gonna get in your way.......... your off and runnin :burnout: Your in the drivers seat, hang on and enjoy the ride!!

The first 3 days are the hardest... after that you will feel more energy and when those first few pounds fall off that is all the incentive you will need.

MF WORKS!! And we are all here to help, listen, gripe too, and whatever questions you may have will be answered!!

Hi Mellow Mom ,

I think we all can understand the reasons not to start any program. But you made a great choice in choosing yourself over food.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to our family of losers! I admire you for just jumping in and going for it. I know how it feels to think there will never be a right time to start but the right time is right now!

In no time you will look back and your only regret will be that you did not start sooner at least that is how it is for me.

Post often and let us know how you are doing!

Great to have you here with us

Hey there mellowmom, welcome!

I just went to my grandfather's 74th birthday party :birthday: the whole family went out to a chinese buffet, and I just asked the cook to steam me 7 ounces of chicken and some broccoli, and he did! Then when everyone else had birthday cake :candle: I politely declined and there were no problems. :)

Once you get past the first few days (no cheating!) then it really doesn't bother you, just eat and drink the MF food. :eat:

Remember Nancy's motto: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Oh and don't forget to register with the forums so you can have a nice little weight ticker like most everybody else, I think they're fun!

MellowMom ... Getting started is half the battle. I'm not saying that it will be easy but once you make the decision and work through the first few days it does get easier. Best of luck to you!

Thank you all for your warm welcomes.

So far so good. I'm down 8 1/2 lbs since Friday. At this rate I'll be on maintenance by the Fourth of July!

:roflmao:

I know, I know.. I'm just kidding.... But seriously it feels good to get off to a good start. I'm telling as many people as possible that I'm on the diet. Kind of gives me a little extra impetus to stay on track. Also, I've met a couple of potential newbies who will be watching my progress in preparation for coming onboard the Medifast Plan.

Getting late, so gotta go. But again thanks for your support.
