Ain't No Hill for a Stepper

Postby Landylue » September 7th, 2004, 5:57 pm

My dad had so very many expressions when he was alive that still play in my head from time to time. One was used in an attempt to encourage me or another member of my family to do something 'above and beyond'. The expression was, "Ain't no hill for a stepper!"

Today, after work, my husband and I skipped the gym and went out to a nature preserve near where we work. There is a certain 3-mile primitive trail that we've walked many times in the past, but NEVER without me having to stop and catch my breath on every incline--especially the last hill which is very steep and rocky.

This afternoon, guys, we walked the ENTIRE trail WITHOUT STOPPING! I didn't even have to stop on that last steep hill. I felt like jumping around at the top like Rocky. I was still sucking in more than my share of air at the top, to be sure, but I did it, I did it, I did it!!!

And Daddy was right. It wasn't no hill for a stepper.

Oh, by the way, this stepper has officially dropped another 1.5 lbs FINALLY!!!

I'm a happy woman tonight.

My best to all.

Yeah, Landylue. You're chalking up lots of pounds lost there - no wonder the way was a breeze for you today. It's moving how your day brought old words new meaning and your Dad into your event/day. Kind of magical, like sharing a moment of success. I know he'd be proud of you. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Dutch! My husband says I made it up the hill because of the 3' snake that crossed the path at the bottom of the hill. I say, "Whatever works!"

God sends us the perfect incentive at exactly the right time, doesn't He!
