Advice for anyone craving cheese...

Postby JustLynda » March 1st, 2006, 5:39 pm

During the last 1 1/2 weeks I have resisted a lot of temptations. Almost every other day someone has brought in a treat to work. A couple of people had birthdays so, of course there was cake and homemade blackberry tart-lets with cream cheese topping. I didn't eat any. Then there were the leftovers from somebody else's school bake sale. I didn't eat any. Then there was the day when we had an assortment of different flavored fudge just because they were on sale at the market. I didn't eat any.

Today, I passed through the breakroom and found...a cheese tray. I should give a little background to say that, in all fairness, it wasn't a sweet-tooth that put me in the weight situation I'm in now. It was cheese. I......love.....cheese! So, I gave in and had a slice (approx 1-2 oz.). Ooooh, it was good. So, I had another. And then another. Yummmmmmmy!

That was about 2 2/1 hours ago. I haven't been able to stray more than a few feet from the bathroom since then. And the cramping!--don't get me started on that.

The moral of this story is this. DON'T EAT THE CHEESE!

It surely helped me too. I am too a cheese lover, and earlier tonight I was looking at the cheese in the fridge.

Oh I so love cheese too! There is no way I could even keep it in my refrigerator right now....I can't even walk by the cheese isle in the grocery store. Too bad Medifast can't come up with some sort of soy cheese supplement for all of us cheese addicts.

Lynda, I have to admit I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes, plus probably would have scarfed down on the tart-lets with cream cheese :whattha:

OHWOW. Well, I was just getting ready to post my own CHEESE story. I also am in the place I am in because God invented CHEESE!!! Without Cheese Ijust might still be a skinny mini!! LOL

Anyway - I didn't eat all my supplements today -we were out and I didn't plan well, plus it's a day of fasting in our church and I thought - well, I would be fine. Not so - AFTER church - I came home and had about 3oz of cheese. and a few wheat thins to go with it --- DANGIT. I have been doing well -and I just caved.

So - she's right - don't eat the cheese. I hate myself now!

Grrrrrr....

Cheese

Postby Jan » March 1st, 2006, 6:58 pm

Hmmmm a victim of cheese.
You are not the first one. I'm going to warn everyone that your system may just react the same if you stray and eat deep fried food. My poor son ate a deep fried fish sandwich. He said it didn't taste nearly as good as he thought it would going down and the rest was a horror story!!

How about Molly McCheese??? I use it on vegetables and soups (broc.) ... If you use it, I would make sure the food is hot and moist or you don't get the right effect. It isn't a bad substitute. I even have taken it to Outback and sprinkled it on vegetables.

This is so funny. Last night, I was cutting some slices of cheese for my husband's taco, and the smell of the cheddar started wafting up . . . and the slices were so appetizing . . . but I had sort of a mini-breakthrough. At first, I thought, "Ooooooh, I really want some of that cheese!" And then the thoughts of, "One tiny little slice of cheese, that won't ruin the plan, that won't mess me up too much, just a little one . . ." Then I started telling myself that I could have cheese later, just not now, and nothing tastes better than thin feels, and all the other mantras I could think of, and all of a sudden a thought came blasting across my mind like a loudspeaker: "I CHOOSE not to have any cheese right now." I can't quite explain why, but that was an extremely empowering moment. This may sound really silly, but it had never (consciously) occured to me that I could choose NOT to eat something. And as soon as I had that moment, I didn't want the cheese anymore. Amazing.

Why, oh why does cheese have to taste so good? Brie and triskets - part of what landed me here! Thanks for posting your story, Lynda, because the thought of cramping (and more) will be enough to keep me away next time, in case the sense of empowerment just isn't strong enough.

Inspiring story, Dayna.

I think I'll change the moral of my story. How about: CHOOSE not to have the cheese. Hmm...I do feel strangely empowered now. Thanks!

PS Oh, and in case anyone's wondering or worried. I haven't let this little mistake depress me or derail my program and I'm not sitting here hating myself or dwelling on it. (I mean...it's kind of funny in a sick sort of way...yes, I have a bizarre sense of humor).

It's gonna be a good day! :D

Dayna- It is so weird that you post that now. My new thing right now is that I tell myself all the time that only I can control what goes in my mouth! It is very empowering when you think of all the things that go on in life that are out of our control to know that this is one area where we have the control!

As for Molly McCheese I absolutely love that stuff on broccoli if I can keep my family out of it! They love it on their popcorn

I agree with Sydrah, the Molly McCheese can be a Godsend. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how cheesey the flavor is. Granted, it isnt like the quality snacking cheeses we know and love but I would equate the flavor to that of the cheese sauce in Kraft mac&cheese. Certainly enough to keep the cravings at bay!

Kudos to all of you for being strong and to those that have had little cheesey slip-ups, for hopping right back on the mediwagon.

You are right, we CAN choose to succeed, because we can CHOOSE not to have whatever it is that tempts us. Very, very empowering!

Best success to you all!
