4th Day- Need some encouragement!

Postby VTGirlie » May 18th, 2006, 6:39 am

Hi guys!

Been looking at the program for weeks, and ordered stuff- started Monday after a weekend of ultimate indulgence. Gained 2 pounds in the process.

So far I'm down 5, which I'll say because it makes me feel better, but really it is 3 if you don't count the "weekend of great sin".

A little about me? I'm a mom of 3 kids, 2 dogs, 1 bunny and a very supportive husband. I work full time and spend the rest wondering how to gain control over my chaotic life!

Anyway, I have a couple of questions that I could really use answers to. :?:

Periodically I get hot flashes. Which is weird- I've never had them before. They aren't at one time of day particularly, and they aren't after one specific packet type. I'm 32, so I don't think this is a sudden onset of menopause ;).

Has anyone else has this issue? Do you know what causes this? Is there a fix, or will it just go away? It does make me feel rather icky.

Also, is there a point at which I will stop waking up thinking of food? Admittedly, I have some emotional issues to get over or I would weigh 200 pounds. I've managed to stay on plan because of weight loss, but I'd love some tips for those days when the pounds don't fly off, as well!

Besides, I'd love some buddies! :D

Let me be the first to say welcome VT,

first of all, you need to register so you can have access to all the kewl things on here, like seeing avatars of all of these lovely men and women, and being able to private message people and such...

I really can't address your hot flash issues, as I had a total hysto almost 25 years ago, so been flashing for as long as I can remember, (but no TOM so it was soooooo worth it) maybe one of the ladies that are around your age or a h/a could address those issues with you, and I am sure they will.

as far as the thinking of food, I have been on the plan for a little over 6 weeks and I still think alot about food, not near as much as before, and not to the extent that I can't control myself from eating things off plan, but still think about it. Especially when it is everywhere, tv, radio, internet... but it does get easier and easier... and like Nancy's motto....

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels .....

Glad to have you joining us, and be sure and just post if you have any questions or issues that you need help with...

We can do this....

Hey there! Thanks!

I'm not thinking this is a biological thing but maybe something related to the plan. ???

So I looked at the site, and feeling rather dense- I have to admit I can't figure out how to join?

Eeek!

:)

Okay, I'm registered!!!

So glad to know I'm not the only one thinking/dreaming about food.

A friend of mine who is an alcoholic explained to me once that they fantasize about taking a drink almost every day. Makes me believe in food addiction, for sure!

Gulping down some Apple Cinnamon oatmeal this morning. Oatmeal is very filling but I'm not crazy about the aftertaste...

Welcome VT! If I were you I would be enjoying those hot flashes...I am always freezing since starting Medifast. I think it is just your body adjusting to the program. The thoughts of food do get less frequent and not as bothersome as time goes by. Stick to plan and you will be thrilled with your results!

Let us know if you have any questions or need some encouragment!

First of all HELLO & WELCOME!

I am also 32 with 3 kids. I can't help you with the hot flash issue as I didn't have those. I did have the headaches. You will have to give yourself time to get over thinking about food. I would guess after a week or so it will get better. It did for me. I am able to cook, buy "junk" food for the rest of the family and not even be tempted to eat it. My only downfall is Sam's Club pizza (dont know why only that pizza, others dont faze me). The smell and site makes me want to eat half of the darn pizza. So I avoid buying it and making it.

Just remember YOU CAN DO IT! Lean on us for support. Check out the Lean Cuisine threads to make the food taste better and in no time you will be at your goal weight.

:goodluck:

You guys are awesome! Thank you for all the support! :D

32/3 must be the formula to gain weight, eh?

It looks like you are losing beautifully, though. Congrats! ;)

Thanks again!

Hi! I did have hot flashes the first week :) They went away, but I would find myself sweating at really odd moments. Tomorrow is the end of week 2, and I can say that I'm still thinking and dreaming about food, but much less than I was! I dropped a lot of weight in the first 5 days. I thought maybe my hot flashes had something to do with my body adjusting to the diet. Or else I was fighting a cold and didn't realize it.

good luck!

Hot Flashes

Postby Jan » May 18th, 2006, 10:20 am

Hmmm,
Generally people have problems feeling cold. I think that's due to a couple of things. All the water "in take and out go" and "parting with the insulation" :D
Soy is a plant estrogen so for those of us "experienced enought" to have earned the hot flashes it can help eliminate them. You are very young :D
(My oldest child is 30 ... so 30+ is very young to me  ) I'm not sure why you're having the flashes other than maybe it's your bodies way of adjusting. They should be gone soon. As for dreaming of food -- I don't know how long that lasts -- just know it's really really common. But here's the good news --- "dream food" doesn't have calories so go ahead and munch away --- in your dreams only

Hi and Welcome! Day 4, you're through most of the hard part! I'm happy for you! I didn't have hot flashes, I was COOOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDD!

As for the food dreams...Matthew MacFayden and the pasta went away in week 2...the dancing intermission popcorn & ice cream from the drive-in that chased me also went away in week 3!...Russell Crowe and the plate of Chili Cheese fries went away at the end of week 3. Still have random food dreams or dream men with dream food dreams.

Hi VT~ I am 35, didn't experience hot flashes, nor was I cold. :idontknow: but our bodies do strange things when we shock them with something new so just hold on and enjoy the ride. :goodluck:
