Good Morning, everyone, and THANK YOU for the well wishes!!! My first day was actually perfect and everyone treated me like I was the Queen of Sheba. The only bad thing that happened was that the management team catered a special lunch just for me. I just hate it that food is so much a part of the human experience. It just seems like I can't get away from it ~ Ughhhh!!!
They told us early in the morning that they were going to have lunch for us so I started brainstorming about how I was going to be strong and not give in to the temptation. I decided that I was going to go off somewhere by myself and have a diet coke along with my MF stuff so I wouldn't have to field questions. But then they told us that they had a special area they wanted us all to go to and there was going to be someone there from each of our departments to lunch with us individually so that we could ask questions. So my next plan of action was just to grab a little bit of whatever it was and only eat protein and try to talk, talk, talk.
As soon as we broke for lunch, we all stood in line to go into the food room when someone came up behind me and called my name. I turned around and it was my boss. She said
(in front of everyone, mind you) that they had a special lunch just for me at another location so I was to come with her. I followed her and was completely shocked. They had me and the entire nursing management team of the hospital in this huge boardroom with a catered lunch of roast pork, steamed vegetables, roasted potatoes, salad, warm rolls, and petit fours. First of all, I was so overwhelmed and almost started to tear up. They told me to sit at the head of the table while they had catering staff come and wait on me. I would like to tell you that I did I good job, but I did not. I ate what was brought to me, as my last MF meal was more than five hours previous.
I was informed that I will be shadowing most of these clinicians for the rest of the week and on into next week and that they are going to take turns taking me to lunch. I'm certainly going to try to do better but
Holy Crap ... I just got back into ketosis a week ago!!!
When I returned to orientation, I learned that the other 47 people got ham/cheese sandwiches and chips for lunch. I really was completely stunned that they went to so much trouble just for me. I think I'm really gonna like this place
Hope everyone has a great day, today!!!
