1st Day Introductions

Postby Rock » August 6th, 2005, 5:09 am

Hello everyone -what a wonderful forum! Today is my first day with my medifast products. I am surprised to find out that the vanilla shake actually tastes pretty good -since I am like most of you who don't believe anything we hear with regard to weight loss. I have been on every diet imaginable with minimal success like most of the stories here. Pretty much the same story with me. I am excited about this program and also feel anxiety that it won't work -or I won't be able to stick with it. I am a compulsive eater so sticking to a diet has not worked well for me in the past, but I will give this my 110% best effort!!

Good Morning and :exercise: happy day to you, Rock!

We can all attest to the fact that Medifast works. You hit the nail on the head with this statement:
I won't be able to stick with it. I am a compulsive eater so sticking to a diet has not worked well for me in the past

Most of us had that fear, too and not all people are able to stick with it and push through the first couple of weeks. To me, the first three weeks are critical.

:coach: Do everything, absolutely everything within your power to follow the plan 110%.

Once your body is in the fat-burning state (ketosis), you are adjusted to eating :bib: smaller meals on time, your hunger will go away and it will be so easy to stick to the program because you will be motivated by the great way you feel, the increase in :sheepjump: energy and the super weight loss. Once a person gets into the “Medigroove” they find this is really a simple and easy program to follow.

:beerbeer: Raising a Vanilla shake with a teaspoon of instant coffee and a dash of cinnamon to your success, Rock. Cheers! :buddies:

The recipes are great, pick the thing you really like it is the best diet and you feel really good on it.
My secret weapons are the chili with salsa, chopped Vidalia onions and FF sour cream, the shakes in the Magic Bullet with ice, the oatmeal "cookies" with lots of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice at night with Sleepytime tea and tons of cold water and the pickles.

Make sure you get the Magic Bullet it makes the shakes taste so good, with 7 cubes of ice the shakes taste like a thick milkshake.
I love the choc shake with Davinci Hazlenut syrup.

Get through the first week without cheating and it will be clear sailing after that and you will be so glad you did.
I don't go out of the house without a bar I know some of the girls carry a frozen shake in a thermos so they don't get stuck and tempted to cheat.
Walk right past those "give aways" at the grocery store, I did at Publix tonight, I went down the other aisle when I saw them!

Good luck!

Is the bullet blender that much different than a regular blender? I see that it has come down in price since a few months ago.

Rock -

What I like about The Magic Bullet is that it is just a whole lot easier to clean up - you mix and drink from the same container. It is a smaller unit and takes up less space in my cupboard or on the counter. We live in a small cottage and I don't have a lot of extra storage space so I like that feature. There are two blades - one whips the shake and makes it fluffy and pulverizes the ice (Use crushed ice to begin with if possible to save wear and tear on the blade), the other blade is super for making fresh salsa.

Downside: Since the container/mug is smaller than my blender's container, I am unable to make root beer or cream soda shake floats in my Magic Bullet - the pop makes the shake too foamy and fluffy for the mixer mug - it squirts out the container and flooded out my Magic Blender!! Even the largest mixer container on our Magic Bullet set is still smaller than my old blender container. So if it is a root beer float I have a hankering for, then I drag out my blender.

Others here may have a different take on it than I do so stay tuned!
