Personal Events

I think everyone reading this would agree that life is a journey. Occasionally, that journey is difficult and can be filled with many obstacles and challenges and even barriers. Nancy’s and my journey has been no different than yours…we all have a story to live and to tell. We take personal responsibility in living that journey to the best of our ability in the freedom we possess…that is what we do in this great country called America, at least, that is what we used to do prior to the last generation or two.

Those who do not take their responsibility seriously in regard to their health and welfare, find themselves being influenced by the error-filled and misleading media, particularly fast food commercials on TV and erroneous nutritional reports stating facts that are disproven subsequent to their release. Another factor we discovered was in a report called the Framingham Study. It states that those individuals who are in your social network can actually influence your health status. This study states that individuals who hang out with overweight or obese people actually have a greater propensity to be overweight or obese themselves. The frightening fact is that your social network does not even have to live in the same geographical region for it to affect your weight and health, according to the Framingham Study. That is one reason it is important that YOU take responsibility for your health…just as the Framingham Study implies, YOU can be the catalyst in helping your family and friends “reclaim” their health through your influence in their lives. Our immediate family has lost over 300 pounds, supporting the results of this Framingham Study that if one will take responsibility, others will follow.

This category display Nancy’s and my personal life events. They have shaped and had a tremendous influence on the quality of our lives. We LOVE our family. We LIVE to do things with them. There is NOTHING we would not do for our only daughter, her husband and our two grandsons…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! You’ll see through our pictorial account (currently being added) how important family is to Nancy and I. I’m sure you feel the same about your family and the relationships you desire to have with them. Unfortunately, like most Americans, you are probably caught up with time or financial constraints, like Nancy and I were, keeping you from really enjoying those you love and mean the most to you. It has only been since July of 2002 when Nancy and I began our Take Shape For Life business that we have been increasingly freed up to enjoy what we value the most in our lives, our family. That was one of our highest priority goals when getting involved in our TSFL business. Our Business Coach and Leader showed us how to achieve that goal. Nancy and I have discovered how important it is to have a vehicle that allows you to focus your life around what matters most to you. In this day and age, in a labor market that sometimes requires long commuting hours, long work hours draining more and more of our time and energies without adequate remuneration, you may also be looking for that vehicle. If so, becoming a TSFL Health Coach, caring for people and helping them achieve great success in reclaiming their health, may be what you are looking for. Take Shape For Life has enabled Nancy and I to do exactly that. Contact us and we would be more than happy to send you FREE information.

The Personal Events segment of our MakeMeThinner blog documents our personal life activities expressing the enjoyment we have with our family and friends.

Iowa Travels – Day 8…returning home

Heading home after eight days in Iowa. We decided to return by way of Wisconsin to Minneapolis. We crossed from Iowa to Wisconsin at Lansing, Iowa. We drove north to La Crosse where we crossed into Minnesota and drove on Interstate 90 and connected to Interstate 52 at Rochester, then up to Minneapolis.
Our trip [...]

Iowa Travels – Day 7…morning

What a privilege to be visiting our team in Waukon, Iowa. This is the seventh day of our trip teaching and training our Take Shape For Life team here in the Midwest. In addition, we’ve enjoyed the people, the history, the wonderful sights of the agricultural element the people living in the heartland enjoy.

We’ve discovered that even here in the [...]

Iowa Travels – Day 4

We headed out today to view the Effigy Mounds, a National Monument highlighting an ancient indian culture. Our personal guide of this area was Adam Nevermann, our Executive Director partner here in Waukon, IA. We learned they buried their warriors and elderly under mounds and then shaped many of these burial grounds into different wildlife figures such as bears [...]

Iowa Travels – Day 3

Nancy  and I awakened a little apprehensive this morning. Today is the 5k run which the event organizers call the 5k Elvelopet. Everything has a Norwegian twist to it during the Nordic Fest. In fact, walking around today and speaking with many of the people attending this weekend, I noticed that many of them didn’t [...]

Iowa Travels – Day 2…cont.

After picking Nancy up from her walk in the country we headed toward Decorah to enjoy the first full day of the Nordic Fest. Since it was a Friday and the weather was not predicted to be the best, I think it might have kept a few of the party-goers from venturing out. But it didn’t [...]

Iowa Travels – Day 2 – The beginning…

Nancy and I enjoyed day 2 of our training trip in Decorah & Waukon, Iowa. Nancy got up early and was going to take a 5k walk in the country (in preparation for the event we’ve both entered for tomorrow morning) while I was catching up on some biz before the day really got started. I was then going [...]

Rewards

We are always looking for rewards in life. As you leave the Indiana Jones theme park ride in Disneyland you are confronted with this sign, “Real rewards await those who choose wisely”.
In this day and age, with all sorts of false information and everyone looking for the all mighty ‘buck’, it’s difficult to know whether [...]
